What is PJ waiting on?

Hard to imagine what is motivating the delay for PJ to make a decision. Presumably--given that the supply of quality, veteran big men is so shallow that Oakley is looking to cash in--Phoenix's offer is as strong as others. Phoenix is thin on the frontcourt (unlike Dallas, Miami and others) guaranteeing quality minutes, offers a light practise schedule and a warm city, and playing with Nash assures that everyone will get a chance to be involved. Add that the Suns have as good a chance as most at gunning for a title shot and it seems a combination that would be attractive.

As others have pointed out, if he really wanted to retire, he would have done it.

What gives?

He could also legitimately not be sure what he wants to do. He's made a good amount of money, been a pretty stand up guy, and could be thinking that spending time with his family is worth more to him than going after a ring with Phoenix.

And likewise, if he really wanted to sign with PHX, he'd do it.

Chances are he is going to play for a team that pays/plays more - even if it is only a dollar more.

He knows D'Antoni is going to use a tight Amare/Diaw/Marion big man rotation and would only leave him about 10 minutes playing time - which is useless.

He is a smart man and knows the Suns system is not his way.

Suns better look to Skinner or Ely.

The pickings are slim for the Suns. If the Suns could get Skinner and/or Ely for the veteran minimum I would be ecstatic. I believe Ely said after the season he made a mistake by not signing with the Suns last season. They may not be the total answer but they would give the Suns some depth upfront.

Well, Ely wouldn't exactly give them depth.

He would give them the bare minimum of required big men: 4 (Amare, Marks, Diaw, Ely....unless u count Marion which I don't)

Teams usually have around 6 bigs. Suns would have 4-5.

This may be true but you don't always get want you want. I would be pleased if the Suns could get both of them but I'm not sure if the Suns will give us more than one veteran big man if that.

I just don't understand the Suns trying to even spin that Marks can play a backup role. I wish he could play but I look at him and Pike in much the same way.

Right now, the Mavs are the only interested team with a lot of cap space. My read on it is that PJ will not make a decision until the Mavs are out of the running.

Is there anyway Suns can trade Pike (about 1 million in salary) and the 2nd round pick they got from Sonics Kurt deal for another cheapo big in the same 1 million dollar range?

If they can do that, that essentially means that u just got a big without using any money.

Then u can go out and sign PJ (uh oh, all CAPS!!!!!!!!) Brown for whatever amount u intend and thus have 2 new bigs. Plus u sign DJ (uh oh, all CAPS!!!!!!!) Strawberry to add guard depth.

Nothing can stand in the way of a homer with an addiction to attention.

you do realize you're doing exactly what you think he wants, giving him attention by responding to everyone of his posts, right?
