I agree, especially on Ayton. The honeymoon is over and he has used up his excuses. By midseason, he needs to look like a different player.

Williams has had bigs do well with him. That had to be a reason the Suns looked at him.

I am guessing they made him a good offer—something like 5/75 but he thinks he can do better and is out there working to get a better deal. The Suns will probably match whatever offer he gets.

I don't understand penciling in Tyler Johnson as the backup SG. He's a liability offensively and would be undersized defensively at that position. He could play there is spot minutes, but that's not the right role for him.

Tyler Johnson has been more of a shooting guard than a point guard for most of his career--and we most likely have better options at the back up pg position. But there will be a lot of combos.

Gallinari just ate our lunch last year. It will be interesting to see if the moves we made help in any way to slow him down against us.

Yeah, the Suns didn't have a lot to stop him. Maybe the Suns will have better team defense this season.

Yeah Spaulding makes sense. The fact that he was still on our summer team might indicate that they had to renounce his deal to sign other players but they intended to sign him back after it was all done.

I think that once we all began looking at the depth chart we realized that this season is the first season in many years, where we are not entering with big questions about the depth chart, roles, and distribution of minutes. Previously we seemed to always have:

1. Too many players in one position, and concern about how minutes would be distributed.
2. Missing players at other positions. Early on it was the center position, last year we had no starting pg and no starting pf.
3. An abundance of REALLY young players with big question marks. Sometimes three and even more young rookies expected to fill major roles.

At this point we have legit NBA players at every position and they are truly playing at their own position. We have offensive and defensive specialists, we have shooting, and none of our young players are in essential roles.

And there is a calm among the masses. This team might not be good, but at least it does not have major flaws. James Jones, as a rookie GM, spent more than he should have to get here, but at least he got here. I am still not sure I am fan of his. He is not very well-spoken, he looks like a high schooler, and he is a total rookie GM not that far removed from playing ball. But I am willing to let his work speak for itself.

I don't want this to come off like I think Amare is a cancer, I don't, he's a nice guy... however, I don't think he has ever even remotely resembled a leader or someone I would want to mentor young players.

He was always full of hot air when talking about improving his game, every year he'd come into the season claiming he was going to be a great defender now, he never changed. He hurt his hand punching glass while he was on the Knicks. I just picture him telling Ayton some nonsense like; "Defense isn't about technique or rotations... it's a frame of mind!" Does anyone else remember getting knocked to the floor for a foul one game against the Spurs, before getting up he decided to show how touch he was by doing pushups... then proceeded to clank some critical free throws. Nice guy, but I've always thought Amare wasn't too sharp.

And more obviously, the guy has been out of the league for years, he stunk when he was last active, I really doubt the years and the wine baths have improved his game.

A guy like Danny Manning who was known for his shooting would be a better fit. Even with bad knees he was able to play when he was 75 to 80 percent.
