It is interesting to me how the anxiety on this board abated with the signing of Oubre. I think that once we all began looking at the depth chart we realized that this season is the first season in many years, where we are not entering with big questions about the depth chart, roles, and distribution of minutes. Previously we seemed to always have:
1. Too many players in one position, and concern about how minutes would be distributed.
2. Missing players at other positions. Early on it was the center position, last year we had no starting pg and no starting pf.
3. An abundance of REALLY young players with big question marks. Sometimes three and even more young rookies expected to fill major roles.
At this point we have legit NBA players at every position and they are truly playing at their own position. We have offensive and defensive specialists, we have shooting, and none of our young players are in essential roles.
And there is a calm among the masses. This team might not be good, but at least it does not have major flaws. James Jones, as a rookie GM, spent more than he should have to get here, but at least he got here. I am still not sure I am fan of his. He is not very well-spoken, he looks like a high schooler, and he is a total rookie GM not that far removed from playing ball. But I am willing to let his work speak for itself.
