He was terrible last year and will probably continue to be terrible. I guess you can say he was 2-2 but he beat two absolutely horrifically bad teams that made our terrible defense look amazing. Than of course, we got our asses handed to us by the Panthers and the 49ers because we couldn't complete a pass.

I'm no Kolb or Bartel fanboy, just keeping it real. ;)

This is what happens when you are bad and have a starting QB who is struggling mightly... hope springs eternal for the back up QB's.

Seriously, though, I think from a pocket pressence perspective, Skelton definitely showed more poise in four games than Kolb has so far in the seven games.

He wasn't very accurate, but neither is Kolb.

He has a strong arm, while Kolb doesn't.

He was a rookie playing without much practice with first teamers and it showed on field. Even this year, he has not had much practice time due to his ankle injury. Kolb on the other hand is a five year veteran and it shows on the field... oh, wait...

I don't think he was nearly as terrible as you state. He showed impressive poise & pocket presence. Something that Kolb hasn't demonstrated at all. Kolb consistently looks like he's ready to pass a kidney stone. Skelton never seemed flustered. Neither have been accurate, but Skelton has a much stronger arm. I'm not saying that Skelton is the answer, but I am still intrigued by his upside. I'm not ready to ditch Kolb either. He needs playing time & an offseason in this system. We'll know far more next year at this time.

A 5th-round rookie QB from Fordham played with the poise of a solid NFL QB, with incredible pocket presence and what appeared to be strong leadership. He was rather inaccurate, yet he also had ZERO practice time, and did I mention he was a 5th-ROUND ROOKIE QB FROM FORDHAM?!?!?! If he can show that much as a rookie, I really want to see what he can do now.

CKW should start him next week. I lost all my old tapes of Stoney Case.

Not sure I would call it Skelton hype... more like Skelton hope, and hope is all we have left for this season.

People are caught up in the Tebow-itis. If your team is struggling, the 1st thing fans want is to replace the starting QB, which is sometimes deserved, but rarely successful. Skelton is a statue, I don't see anyway possible he could be productive behind the worst O-Line in the NFL, but he does have poise, and does step up in the pocket when it's warranted. Kolb is average at best, but Skelton is definitely not the answer, to any degree. I think most people want Skelton even more just because they hate the Cards front office, and want to prove that the Kolb signing was a huge mistake. Just a theory...

I don't understand how people come off saying Skelton is terrible. He came from a small school and last year the game plan wasn't for him. Unlike Kolb, Skelton did something in the clutch against the cowboys last year. 4 and 15 and he throws a first down to Larry and drives it down field enough for the game winning field goal. That was probably the most exciting time of the year for me, was to watch to see how Skelton did. With a weaker o line last year, he looked comfortable in the pocket and brushed off defenders like Demarcus Ware. Kolb is scared now. He continues to look worse every game and I was one of the people to say stick with him but I just don't see him getting any better...Just imagine, with Beanie getting 20+ carries a game that would help Skelton out tremendously compared to last year when we ran the ball like 10-15 times a game.

I think it's just because Leinart, Hall, and Kolb all looked skittish in the pocket, and who knows what DA was doing back there. As LIAC said it's a hope.

That's the part I don't get with people saying Kolb doesn't have a strong arm. He does, not Derek Anderson strong but he has a strong enough arm the problem is his footwork and mechanics. That TD throw to Doucet on the back shoulder as Billick said you really gotta zip that to make sure it gets there and he did. The problem is his footwork is sketchy so many of his throws aren't on balance.

Saying Skelton is inaccurate but so is Kolb is a bit nice to Skelton, 53% in preseason against backups, Kolb 55% against starters. Last year Skelton 48% in real games 53 in preseason. He was under 40% on throws less than 10 yards in the air last season.

He does stand tall in the pocket and he does have a strong arm he just takes way too long to decide where to go with the ball and then usually misses the target. He's young and he'll get better but right now we're talking about a guy who never got to even 200 yards in a game last year and was 15-37 for 156 against Denver in a game we WON 43-13. People saying well he won 2 of his starts are sort of glossing over the facts. He was 26-62 in those 2 wins, 349 yards no TD's 1 pick. It's not like he actually won those games we won because of defense and running the ball, Hightower 150 yards against Denver and we had 3 picks and 3 fumble recoveries. Washington had a picksix, Jay Feely had a TD run.

Against Dallas 2 picks and a fumble recovery, the first 2 TD's were a picksix by DRC and a picksix by Toler. Skelton had a 74 yard TD pass to Roberts on a completely busted coverage the CB fell down tried to grab Roberts and Andre was totally free until a safety came over and missed the tackle.

I will give Skelton this on a huge 4th down play late he hit Fitz for a big first down that started the winning FG drive. Later a huge play to Komar. This season when we've needed that from Kolb he hasn't done it, Skelton did it last year in that one instance.

But I think if you give Kolb 6 turnovers a defensive TD and a score by the FG kicker he's probably capable of winning a game too.

Skelton was terrible except for a few plays each game. Can he be a good NFL QB? We don't know. Has Kolb been terrible? Yes after the first 2 games. I really believe our lack of solid NFL tackles have made Kolb gun-shy in the pocket, so I'm giving him at least 5 more games though I think he's not gonna get over it til Levi & Keith are outta here.

He lead the Cards to victory against the Broncos last year... my granddaughters first ever game. She is now a big fan and wears their gear to school etc. I dearly hope she is not hooked for life to this loser franchise like I am. My heart already aches for her.

It's only half joking, but I have my doubts about that. Kolb was handed that game yesterday, and he couldn't get the job done. How many passing yards did we have in the 2nd half? IIRC, it was less than 10.

I always thought Skelton was better than Kolb. Still do.

Trade was one of the worst ever in the NFL.

It was 1. We had 1 yard passing as a team in the second half. -14 in the 3rd quarter. I had to check it a couple times because such futility seems impossible, but it's true. We had 1 passing yard in the second half.

The system works!

Gotta give my props to Skelton today. I don't think he is the future since he is so inaccurate, but he can be a good stopgap till we find that "guy".

He certainly looked better than Kolb today that was for sure. Made some mistakes missed some throws but that's ok he made a bunch of good throws and made the big drive when needed.

I'm still not sold on him as a longterm guy but I'd start him next week that's for sure.

Career high in passing yardage for the 2nd straight start.

I also liked how we changed teh blocking a bit to get more help back there I think that clearly allowed us to run some deeper routes and have time to throw it.

Nice game Skelton.

The big thing is that he has shown huge improvement from last season.

I like his 9 yards per carry when things fall apart and he runs it himself.
