Skelton has certainly showed massive improvement. Kolb literally hasn't improved at all throughout his entire career, and the stats clearly illustrate that. I've never seen a QB gradually get worse every single game like Kolb has, and I think it's pretty obvious at this point that he's nothing more than a glorified back up.The big thing is that he has shown huge improvement from last season.
The guys wins games. Stats be damned. If Whiz has any interest in keeping his job, Skelton will continue starting for the foreseeable future.
The same could be said of Tim Tebow at this point (I think Skelton has infinitely more potential than Tebow though).
Also, if I'm the owner, and my coach tells me he has more faith in sticking with a young QB that was already on my roster over the guy he hand picked, convinced me to trade a pro-bowl player and a high draft pick for, and convinced me to pay tens of millions of dollars to, I would fire that coach immediately.

Really? I'm glad you aren't my boss.
This sport is a gamble, and part of the fun is seeing the unexpected stars (Brady, Warner, etc.) become stars. The team needed a QB and made a move in the summer instead of sitting around and doing nothing. Maybe it backfired, but at least they did something.
I'd fire the coach that didn't go with the hot hand, or that didn't try to fill the teams needs, which included QB.
People are caught up in the Tebow-itis. If your team is struggling, the 1st thing fans want is to replace the starting QB, which is sometimes deserved, but rarely successful. Skelton is a statue, I don't see anyway possible he could be productive behind the worst O-Line in the NFL, but he does have poise, and does step up in the pocket when it's warranted. Kolb is average at best, but Skelton is definitely not the answer, to any degree. I think most people want Skelton even more just because they hate the Cards front office, and want to prove that the Kolb signing was a huge mistake. Just a theory...
I really don't get how people can completely say Skelton is not the QBOF. Yes, he makes mistakes but he is showing alot of upside, and continues to be clutch when needed to be. The man is still a "rookie", a RAW "rookie at that. I, myself am not saying he is the QBOF but you guys don't give him any slack but give Kolb slack? C'mon! Kolb has been in the league a bit longer and has started more games than Skelton. It's funny, as a fan you do not support the guy and no matter what he does you put the guy down.....What guy has come out and in his first 2 years is making no mistakes and winning every game??? jeez....
The biggest difference it seems many are ignoring is the blocking scheme and the fact that there is much more max protection being ran or at the very least help with chipping than Kolb ever had in his starts. Give Kolb the same protection scheme and I would like to see what he can do.
All I am saying is this is not an apples to apples comparison. Skelton is getting better protection more often than Kolb did. On plays where it was only the OL blocking Skelton was running for his life or had little time to throw.

Well the thing is there's this element of does he just win games or is he just getting lucky. I'd start him against SF(although last year he was horrible against them) but largely because the team has won 2 games and I don't know if Kolb is healthy.
Skelton made the big plays when we needed them, Kolb hasn't.
But if you look he gave them 10 points on picks yesterday. One of the TD's to Fitz not only should have been picked, it should have been a picksix I still don't know how the DB missed that but he did(lucky). ANother completion downfield to Fitz again should have been picked but it's tipped up and Fitz catches it. There was another one to Fitz he completed into triple coverage when it's complete it's great but generally speaking throwing high into triple coverage is a bad thing. but it worked again.
Right now I have no complaints because we won, but it could have very well been a 4-5 pick game where we're all clamoring for Bartel.
but all I can do is react to what happened and we won so I'm happy.
On the surface, you would think the Bidwells will push to start Kolb - since they just spent all that money. But think about this. The Kolb money is already spent. If Kolb continues to start, they risk not selling out home games. If Skelton starts, there's hope, and probably a higher chance of selling out. I don't know if that's really the case. Or if that's what Bidwells are even thinking. But you never know. They just might push for Skelton sooner than you think. You must be registered for see images
