This is NOT a rip on the team thread. This is a humor thread the way I see it because the days I'm about to talk about I really think are long gone. So my question is this - let's have a little fun and relive the moments we were most ashamed to be Cardinal fans - I'll give you my two:

1. Grammatica tearing his ACL celebrating a 34 yard made field goal IN THE FIRST QUARTER in a nationally televised game!

2. Steve Bono running for an 80 yard TD - I still crack up over the mental image of what my Father and Brother must have looked like in the stadium as that play happened.

What do you guys got? This thread should be good for some laughs.

Can't really think of exact instances but seeing Plummer throw 4 or more interceptions and some for touchdowns as I'm at the game seemed pretty embarassing. All I could do is put my face in my hands...

The two you mention are probably 1 and 1a.

The Browns game during the Buddy Ryan era comes to mind.

I just can't get the vision out of my head of Jay Shroeder throwing a pass almost straight up in the air for grabs when faced with a rush.

Um then, of course, that brings to mind the Browns game last year. That had to be one of the worst played games of football I have ever seen. That is when I checked out emotionally last season, after that it was academic and I could relax and force myself to laugh at the horrific nature of the whole thing.

Wasn't Champ Baily's first INT a Jake plummer out pattern returned for a TD? I seem to remember it was his first game or first INT of his rookie season.

The Charles Woodsen pick for a TD was horribly embarrassing also.

Jake Plummer throwing an interception that got returned for a TD on the first play of the game comes to mind.Getting stoped I think it was 8 times in a row from the 1 yard line against the Eagles when Joe Bugle was coach.

The most dissapointing thing was when we kneeled on the ball at the 1 or 2 yard line to run out the clock against Dallas in the playoff game.A lot of good that so called class move did us,they beat us 44-7 in our first meeting the next season.I'm still bitter we diden't kick them when they were down

The continuing Rosenbaugh injuries. Every 1st round running back we've taken in recent memory (Hearst, LeLand TackleToy, Thomas "out for weeks for the bears with a bruised toe" Jones).

Sheer comedy? Hopefully the last game like that will be the Atlanta game from earlier this year. We kick field goals on 1st downs in scoring range, and we win 12-6. Fumbles are hell.

Let's go back to '94, game 1 against LA Rams, Proehl...wide open...game winning catc..er...drop...we lose.

The final game of the year in '94. We're 8-7, losing to the Falcons in Atlanta, and it comes over the PA that the Cards are eliminated from playoff contention. The Cards eventually drive down to the Atlanta 1 yard line (Gary Clark made a clutch catch), but Ron Moore can't get the ball 1 yard to win the game, and we end up 1 yard short of the first Arizona Cardinals winning season.

The entire 1995 season (bono's run, buddy ryan running off the field in the Dallas game on monday night while the game was still going on, etc.)

Grammatica celebrating every 1st quarter TD before his leg went "pop."

eh, that's all I got for now...

I can't remember the year or our record or anything but we suffered a severe beat down at the hands of the Cowpukes on MNF during the Buddy era. I was staying at Pointe South Mountain and had to ride to and from the game in a shuttle bus full of 'pukes fans. Plus I had a miserable cold and was sick as a dog and couldn't leave early after it was like 38-3 or some such. The ride back to the hotel with all those 'pukes is a memory I would like forever wiped from my mind......maybe a Super Bowl victory would do it

PS...Andy440... I share your bitterness that we took a knee also and wished we would have run the score up and kicked when they were down also

Mosr memories are a blur. Everytime I walk into a bar with my Cards gear on and people ask," Oh God, A Cardinal Fan.....WHY?".

Not any more!

I was at that game in Texas and, besides the Grammatica kick, was the worst. My sis and I were walking down to the lower level toward the end of the game and I got super booed by the fans cause I was wearing my Cards jersey. Martay Jenkins was coming off the field after the game and he was all smiles, which really ticked me off. I know he had family and friends in the stands, but dude, you just got your arse handed to you. Act like you care just a little bit.

It was Tobin's last game.

The next day I had to go BACK to the stadium because I promised my sis we could take a tour. It was painful.

Al Del Greco's fake feild goal attempt to rush into the endzone vs. the Cowboys. All my friends laughed, and one said,"your kicker is pretty powerful".

Where to start?

In recent memory, I'd have to say the Dallas game of 2003. The team just got whipped in every way, shape, and form and didn't even try to compete. Then to top it off, Emmitt cries like his little girl afterwards. That was as embarrassing as the game itself.

I'd say the Grammatica injury, since I was in the stands. Of course, as the other Cards fans at that game would undoubtedly mention, we got to see Tillman kick off.

Honestly, I might actually say being at 4-2 in 2002, going into SF with thoughts of a division lead on our minds, and proceeding to lose 9 of the last 10. The cumulative moment was deinitely one in which to hang your head.

for me right now it had to be the 49er game when the team was 4-2 and playing for the division lead and to go down 24-3 (?) at half? I was at a friends house talking up the cards and telling them that they had turned the corner

Here's one that's up there (but the sting has been taken out by recent developments)...

When Boston was simply released. No tag, no trade, no compensation at all for what at the time looked like one of the more dominating WRs in the game.

Say all you want about boston, but you know teams would have paid for him.

THe way the city of Phoenix Fab 40 treated Mr. B, and his family after they moved their franchise here to Arizona. They Promissed him a New stadium only to lie to Mr. B. and had plans draw-up to refurbish Sun Devil Stadium without Mr. B's Knowledge. While trying to get a large local but national Real Estate magnet to buy the team from Mr. B. and his family. A real "bait and switch" if I say so my self.

Guy's that is one reason why we have had a terrible NFL team for so long. Now that Mr.B and his family can see the light at the end of the tunnel with the new stadium coming on line in 2006 we will be very competitive NFL franchise for years to come.

The time that the Broncos came to town and we fell behind cause the snake threw an INT after INT. Grammatica ACL tear also comes to mind since I was telling coworkers that we finally turn the corner, next thing you know the stupid kicker rips his knee in a televised game.
