Now that it appears that the last above average DE, that was available as a free agent, has spurned our money, where are we going now?:( It sure doesn't look like our #1 priority, Being able to get some pressure on the QB, has been addressed at all. I am usually an optimist when it comes to the Cardinals but if this issue is not addressed, We are going to be hard pressed to match last seasons 4 wins. Come on guys there is a lot of brain power on this board. What are some of the legitimate moves that we can make to improve this defense? Personally, I think that without this signing any option of selecting someone other than a DL with our #1 and #2 picks has just flown out the window.

I have to say, I'm very worried at this point. We need pass rushers. There's no guarantee we get Suggs and, if we do, no guarantee he'll be good or that he'll even sign on time. I hope Dennis Johnson progresses, but he's even less of a guarantee. Will KVB be good now that he's healthy? Who knows. I pray that Bryant pans out, but he's very shaky at this point. He may become the complete DT we wanted or he could suck at rushing the passer and stopping the run. If we don't improve the pass rush in one way or another, either adding players or having our own step forward, we're going to be crushed yet again this season and our CBs will look like college players again from being left on an island.

krang: do not laugh..I started a bring in willie whitehead for depth about a month ago..personally, I am of the opinion willie is probably better than wakefield...I assumed we would sign a starter and willie could be depth...but that is all out the window (so far anyway)..

As I put on the other thread

Pray for the good health of Byron Leftwich.

If he looks good, Cincy will probably take him #1.

I doubt Chicago passes on Palmer.

Suggs makes it to us.

Or, Graves MUST pull a trade of some kind to get enough picks to address the DL

I know it's unlikely...huh krang;) & although you've said numerous times it's impossible. Jamir Miller wants to play Defensive end. I'm not in Phoenix so I may be out of the loop as far as his fellings towards us. But at this point What would it hurt to contact his agent.. he's un-employed right now, the economy sucks!!!, & we have job openings:D I agree drafting Suggs is a no brainer if available...Holliday is'nt a difference maker, although he was an upgrade..

a couple of ides in no specific order of preference.

1. give the money we offered to holliday to jamir miller, trade down and draft mcdougle or haynes.

2. draft suggs or peak and bring in whitehead.

3. trade TJ for Brackens(reworked deal) win/win-they get a backup for taylor and get something in return for a player they WILL cut. same for AZ. draft suggs or peak

4. roll dice and hope johnson and alton moore pan out, KVB shows he was worthy of a second round pick and bryant steps up.(draft best player)

5. trade down fot 2 firsta and draft DT(williams or sullivan) a DE(haynes, mcdougle, or kelsay).peak in the second or third

In all scenarios we get a pass rusher and run defender(not neccesarily in one player). In any case I like the trade for brackens idea with TJ. I mean both teams get something they need and lose nothing they want.
