What position of need do you think we should look at filling through FA instead of the draft?

BA stated that Boehm might be in the mix to be our RG this coming season. At some point one of these draft picks on the Oline has to pay off and be a starter. Now if BASK don't have faith in the current Oline group then yes go get a RG in FA.

I just think DJ, MI, AQ, Wetzle/Boehm/Toner, JV would be a very good Oline and not a sieve in the making.

Do not get me wrong. I like Boehm.......as a center. I really like Wetzel, and Toner........as backups.

I agree with what you are saying. When I started looking at the roster, I had slated OG AND OC as needs. But that is ridiculous. As you said, at some point these drafted players have to get on the field. I am all for putting Boehm on the field at center, but then putting another rookie next to him ? No way.

The book is still out on Toner by the way, so we do not know what we have there. Yet, I am comfortable with Wetzel as a backup, and comfortable with Cole Toner fighting for a roster spot going into next season. I still think the Cardinals should sign a right guard. If the team truly wants to make a run next season, I think that would be the quickest way to improve the offensive side of the ball.

That all being said, Larry Warford is the only guard I see worth going after, if not him, then I say we stick with what we have.

We need two guys, a CB and a G because a rookie will cost you too early in the season. Maybe Brandon Williams has something to offer because he was severely inexperienced for the sudden jump, and our backup guards did play solid at the end... I mean they actually shocked me with their play because our OL in the last two games was honestly better than our starting lineup early

I agree. even though I think we could pick up Kevin King in the draft and he could start right away at CB2... a right guard should be a priority in FA.... Boehm, Boem, Bhoem, whatever...did a really good job at guard but he may take over the starting center spot next season if he continues to progress.

Not as GM he don't. And he's only become a strict draft guys over the last 4 or give years.

I know. Proves my point. Green Bay, an infamous doesnt-sign-any-FAs team, has 2 rings (perhaps soon 3) based almost 100% on draft picks.

The guy whos been in charge of draft picks is therefore pretty darn successful.

The key is signing guys that fit your system and not spending big money on a player and then trying/thinking he's going to perform the same under completely different circumstances. To me, the riskiest positions to sign in FA are DL and LB. How many times have we seen a 4-3MLB look like total bust when switched to a 3-4? Jonathon Vilma comes to mind. Any non 3-4 team that would sign CC would be wasting their money.

I think the safest position to sign is OL. You pretty much know what you're getting.

Sure proves your point you're 1 for 32. Hope you're proud. Why do I even bother??? I guess the other 31 teams and me are stupid, but Bod-ha...ha...ha is right....SMH.
