The Ertz TD was a TD. He caught the ball, took a full 2 steps(not his fault it takes 2 steps to go 5 yards), reaches the ball out, it crosses the plane, TD. The fact he hit the ground and the ball came out is irrelevant. If it's not a fumble when a runner rushing the ball, gets hit, hits the ground and the ball comes out then it's it's a non factor here.

Oh, and final penalty tally according to Yahoo...

Eagles-6 penalties for 35 yards
Patriots- 1 penalty for 5 yards. They got a 2nd flag that was declined. Again, it's virtually impossible to go a complete game with near no penalties and let alone 2 full games with a grand total of 2 penalties. Even the least penalized team in the league gets more than 3 flags thrown against them in 2 games.
Didn't they say that the Patriots had 1 accepted offensive penalty in all of the playoffs this year?

IIRC you are one of the posters along with so many others who claim the Cards never get a call because the refs and the NFL are biased? Just askin'. If I am wrong let me know.

I do. And the Patriots have gotten many calls over the years - including yesterday. Please explain how the Ertz TD was a bad call.

I'll hang up and listen.

The officiating was lax both ways, in the end, the most egregious was the TD that would have been called incomplete ALL season.

But, the Eagles won the game and that's what will go down as a fact.

The Pats had plenty of opportunity to win but just didn't make the stops when needed.

I thought it was a great game. One of the best SB in recent memory.
I’m all for “letting them play” too, but it is somewhat problematic. Remember the end of the Niners-Ravens SB five years ago? Loads of contact on the final play. Even worse, the bozos who reffed the Steelers-Cards SB didn’t even bother to check instant replay after Warner’s fumble at the end. Not good.

  • Didn't bet a penny, didn't lose a penny. Just give a crap about the missing integrity of the game. NFL and integrity oxymoron
  • "If you ain't cheatin' you ain't tryin' ( that sucks ) .
That is a whole other story, that there where missed PI on both sides, that every officiating team calls catches different because of a bad wording, that a football move is needed to be a catch, that makes a catch and going to the ground on the field such a wish-wash call and on the other hand a catch and dive a 5 minutes review is a problem that the NFL has to solve.

That Hail Marys aren't called like normal plays is also a problem. Overall the game would have been over when the O-line grabbed Cox and hold him. But like someone explained before, Hail marys are called differently in 99.9% of the cases. Oh and the 0.1% is the Seattle Fail Mary.

The Cards, got some bad calls in the last two decades, the SB, and especially in the last 3 years under BA since BA called every crew out and started to go in theire face. That started getting calls against us.

but the SB overall was very fluid, the officiating made some bad calls but overall, they got the difficult ones right and the better team won.

And yes I detest cheating as well, and if it's only the grab them on any play they don't start calling it approach. That is on the officials they should call it every time, till they are backed up on the own end zone, opponents would score easy on this one and you can deny a penalty...

Cheating pete wouldn't use it anymore and NE o-line wouldn't "hug" all D-players all day long. But that is something for an other thread and another time. Overall the SB was enjoyable and from my point of view, the better team won.

Yeah, the only other penalty called against the Pats in the entire playoffs was on special teams. No defensive penalties either. Unbelievable.

Consistency is all I ask, especially with a crew that didn’t work together all year long.
