Florida State star Ta'Niya Latson shook up the transfer portal.

On Thursday, news broke that Latson intends to enter the women's college basketball transfer portal, potentially becoming the biggest name of the season to make the list. The decision shocked many fans and pundits in the basketball world as it came shortly after Florida State's March Madness tournament run. Though Latson was brilliant during Florida State's tournament appearance, her team fell short against 3-seed LSU, 101-71.

Latson also recently revealed that she would forego the WNBA draft to focus on growing and hopefully winning a national championship with Florida State. However, things have changed, and Latson is apparently considering all of her options. So, let's break down what entering the transfer portal means for Latson.

Here are the three options Latson can consider by entering the transfer portal:

1. Ta'Niya Latson could declare for the WNBA and turn pro

If Ta'Niya Latson considers turning pro, now would be a great time to do it. Beyond UConn's Paige Bueckers, the first round isn't set in stone. Players will likely fall and elevate before the WNBA draft, making Latson a prime candidate to steal a spot and re-set the available market for draftable guards.

Teams that could consider drafting her include the Golden State Valkyries, the Connecticut Sun, the New York Liberty, the Los Angeles Sparks and the Chicago Sky. All of those franchises either need a starting point guard or formidable guard depth.

2. Ta'Niya Latson could leave Florida State and transfer

Per ESPN's Andrea Adelson, Florida State knew Ta'Niya Latson could leave. The school had quietly prepared for this moment over the last several months. It reportedly became clear that Latson might be in line to receive a substantial NIL deal. If Latson moves schools, here are a few options to keep an eye on, including the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, the Texas Longhorns and the USC Trojans.

Notre Dame is preparing to lose Olivia Miles to the draft. Texas could also lose a player, Rori Harmon, to the WNBA, and USC will be without JuJu Watkins for an undetermined period of time. Of course, South Carolina is always on the list, too. Latson was a high school teammate of Gamecocks guard Raven Johnson and played AAU basketball with three other current South Carolina players.

3. Ta'Niya Latson can stay at Florida State and be a legend

There's a possibility that Ta'Niya Latson will decide to return to Florida State and win a national championship. Doing so would likely make Latson a legend. Florida State is losing seniors Makayla Timpson and O'Mariah Gordon. Both are graduating. That removes a significant portion of Florida State's starting lineup and would likely put the program into a soft rebuild.

If Latson were able to secure a championship for a program into a "rebuild," it would go down as one of the best seasons women's college basketball has ever seen.
