For how long? Ten years? Twenty? We may have to settle for other playoff opponents for awhile, waiting on the Lakers to bounce back might be a losing proposition. I am so sad.

I guess that joke was lost in translation. The question was who would we like to face in Round 1. I said the Lakers, because, well, we could win a series against them. Otherwise, the point is moot--we are most likely not going to win a first round series regardless who we play.

It was an obvious joke on your part, I thought my humor-twinged response was equally obvious. Mine wasn't hilarious but I figured it was worth a couple of extra points because we so rarely have the opportunity to mock the Lakers.

Spurs, not only are the probably the most beatable due to their aging and fragile vets but even if it were a short series we got swept in the team, coach and players, stand the chance to learn the most from going against the Spurs.

There's really no surprise who's going to win this year. They're going to give the trophy to the Heat again. Spurs and Pacers and maybe OKC are better teams but the Heat have the refs in their back pockets. Or the other way around. Something smells fishy.

I hope Indy or OKC wins it though. Would be cool if the Suns made it in beating the Grizzlies. I hope the Heat have to go through Chicago so they can beat them up before they meet the Pacers. I also take it the Spurs will lose to the Clippers or OKC and that we'll have OKC vs Heat in the Finals.

As much as I dislike the Heat I cannot say it was the refs who won them the title last year. In the closing seconds of game 6 Kawhi Leonard was at the line for the Spurs with a chance to put the series on ice only to miss a FT, then all the Spurs had to do was box out and they win... but they didnt and Ray Allen hit a 3, then the Spurs again had a chance to win the series but missed at the buzzer of regulation. And then the next night you even had Tim Duncan missing an easy open put back that would have tied game 7 in the final minute.

The Spurs did some very un-Spur like things that cost them a title last year, it was not the refs.

I don't think it's a given that the Heat win this year. James is still young enough that the league might benefit from having him go through one more cycle of being knocked down and getting back up. Jordan enabled that story line for himself by taking the two-year baseball sabbatical. It's boring if the same player wins year after year.

I know it doesn't mean anything but Paul Coro agrees with my thinking, that the Thunder would be the Suns best match-up in round one. He made note of it in a chat session at azcentral.

I guess. The gap between Beverley and Lin is pretty small. The Suns need to make their own help; there are too many teams in the mix to count on any particular one cooling off down the stretch.
Gap between Beverly and Lin is pretty big. Beverly is their best defender. Now Harden has to guard the best guard on opposing teams and Harden is one of the worst defenders in this league.
To be fair we did sweep them the last time we played them in the playoffs.
Yea but we had an elite big man in his prime and a 2 time MVP who started in the All star game that year as PG.
