1. I want to keep Marion more than ever. Shawn, along with Tim Duncan is one of the few bright spots on this team. They play team ball. If the Suns win it all, it will be with team ball (3 pt shooting aside).

2. Steph's pg deficiencies are really exposed. I was always thought the criticisms of Stephs game have been overblown, but this Olympic team doesn't have any real pg presence at all, and no center outside of Duncan. Nash is looking like a better fit for us all the time.

3. Amare has some growing up to do. I would love to attribute Amare's bench time to Larry Brown's prejudice against young players, but there must be something there. My guess is that Amare's defense and passing are not up to snuff. I do believe the young man will take the experience as a challenge.

I agree. I know I've done a bit of a U-turn on this matter. I still believe Shawn Marion makes too much money, but I think he's going to be an important part of the team. For the most part he has played well in the Olympics. I only wish that you was even a threat to score outside of 5 feet from the basket.

The ideal international point guard pushes the ball up the floor every time and is a reliable shooter. Marbury really does neither of those things well. He has very good passing skills, and he tries to use them. It's difficult though when the defense has clogged the middle, and his teammates and himself and knock down the open shots with any sort of consistency. It isn't dissimilar from the problems he was having with last year's Phoenix Suns.

I also agree with this. It's clear that Amare Stoudemire has some work to do. He seems to have good attitude though. At least he isn't bitching about playing time like Carmelo Anthony. I think Amare and LeBron James are both great talents with the right attitude and work ethic.

I think Amare was, from the beginning, a bad fit for this team. His offensive weaknesses (shooting, ballhandling, passing) are exposed against the zone bigtime. His defense at this point is limited to some weakside shotblocking, which isn't terribly effective in international play. In the NBA he's a stud, but in international competition he's got to work on the fundamentals to make an impact.

I wholeheartedly agree about Marion - he's showed why he belongs on the team more than anyone except probably Duncan in my mind. He does all the little things well; if only he was a good 3-ball shooter...
