Tango,
Name me a significant free agent that was signed without leaving town after his first visit. Just one in say the last 3 years.
How about you tell me how many free agents ANYWHERE sign before leaving town?
Especially the "impact" players. And Also especially those who are making their first(or early) visits. Most often they are going to shop around a little before commiting anywhere. Sure you can always throw a foolish amount of money at them to try to prevent that.....but would you also explain to me how that is "good business"???
How about you explain how any of their free agent offers last year were so terrible?
As has been pointed out seemingly endless times....Colvin didn't want to come here...at any price. They made a good and fair offer to Holliday, likewise he didn't seem to want to play here either. I'm sure not crying over his non-signing anyway. Would have been OK...but I don't think our LDE position actually sucked last year.
I'm not sure about Blake...but didn't the Cards sign him immediately after he was brought in? As soon as Jake announced he was signing with Denver?
I think you're blowing smoke here.
