What will it take to get to the 4th pick

Honestly, probably at least three first rounders, if not more than that, like this or next year's 2nd.

Assuming Cousins goes to the Vikings, it leaves both the Broncos and Jets in situations nearly as desperate as ours. We'll need to make the trade back so sweet for Cleveland (or the Colts) that moving back a few picks to 5 or 6 just isn't worth it to pick up another 2nd or third. And that's assuming Miami isn't offering a similar kind of package.

If the Browns take Barkley #1 overall, there probably isn't even a way to move up into the 4 spot.

I dont think 4 is available. If we want to trade up like that we have to target 1, 2, or 3

cleveland has already said they would entertain trades for...#1,..they didnt say for 4, for #1.

Trading for 4 only allows the Giants and the Colts to get more for 2 and 3...and it also leaves two spots in front of us for teams to trade into...everyone knows we need a QB...so if we were to go get 4.... Denver and the Jets would both be looking to get 2 and 3


if we get to 2 and the Browns select Barkley we have our pick of the QB's...ideal.... at 3 there is still the possibility of two QB's being off the board... not likely but possible

the tough spot is, once the Browns select Barkley at 1...the price for pick 2 goes way up...so if Keim were interested in trading up he might consider making the deal before the draft... but with the Giants also interested in Barkley they may not trade until they know clevelands pick.....
so many unknowns this time of year... what is known...is that the Browns will in fact trade the #1 overall pick.... so they should just go for that

We got average to slightly above average QBs coming out and we are going to give away the next several #1 picks?

Even the 'consensus' #1 Darnold has flaws in his delivery that will not be easy to correct---see Tebow's struggle to correct his flaw. At the pro-level, Darnold is going to be a turnover waiting to happen.

Keep the picks. Sign a young vet---for $30 mil you can sign two. Keep building the roster and become a dominant D, solid run game, competent QB.

If that fails and the team tanks, we will get our #1 pick in the draft the old fashioned way---we will have earned it.

I think both Rosen and Mayfield are worth it. I see them as being Carson Palmer and Drew Brees respectively

I was thinking about this last night. Browns are stocked with picks this year, but what if they use #4 to stock up next year.

Say they take a QB first and then Barkley and Chubb go 2 and 3. At 4, Browns are likely left with someone like Fitzpatrick, but say Jets are desperate to get in front of Denver and give up 6 and next year's 1 to get their guy. Say then at 6 the Cards or someone else come calling and offer their first this year and next year's first and second to go up and get the last of the top 4 QBs. Browns would get their franchise QB at #1 and flip #4 for a lower first rounder plus 2 extra ones and an extra two next year.. would really set them up to keep stockpiling and overhauling the roster.

Well the deal would not be consummated until draft day. No way is anybody going to make that trade up with Cleveland until they know for sure who is on the board. So the real thing then is you are negotiating a deal with Cleveland who is negotiating with other teams, so basically the are auctioning off the pick, and that is why I think you're looking a either 3-1s or at least 2-1s and 2-2s.

Fans need to see how FA plays out before going all in on the draft itself. All it will take to blow the QB hunt out of the water will be for McCarron, Cousins, Keenum, Bradford, Bridgewater, etc to sign on as starters (or even bridge QBs) and the entire dynamics of draft order and teams who need a QB shifts dramatically.

The biggest feeding frenzy will occur if the Browns sign a QB and put their picks on the market. Teams will see that shiny top pick at #1 and even #4 as too precious to pass up---even when its not. Browns could sign McCarron, take RB Barkley (top player in this draft) and put that #4 up for bid---they trade down in this year's first and hoard more picks for next year. They get a QB, a RB, and a top player at his position + picks/other players. That is why the Browns might trade down. Even if McCarron falls flat, they can get to the head of the line for QB next year.

I'm pretty sure John Dorsey isn't putting his teams future in the hands of AJ McCarron any longer than Chicago did with Glennon. McCarron hasn't thrown a meaningful pass in 3 years.
