What will the new Fayetteville 5A, 6A and 7A conferences be named in 2025-2029?

Now that the NCHSAA has finalized its conferences for the 2025-2029 school years, the conference committees have announced the names for the new conferences.

The reason for the NCHSAA's reclassification is to allow for growth, since an association bylaw prevents more than 64 schools per classification.

Here are the newest conference names for the 5A, 6A, and 7A conferences in which Fayetteville schools have been placed.

Eastern Sandhills 5A/6A​

  • Douglas Byrd (5A)
  • St. Pauls (5A)
  • E.E. Smith (6A)
  • Seventy-First (6A)
  • South View (6A)
  • Westover (6A)

Tri-County 6A/7A​

  • Gray's Creek (6A)
  • Scotland County (6A)
  • Terry Sanford (6A)
  • Cape Fear (7A)
  • Lumberton (7A)
  • Purnell Swett (7A)

Mid-South 7A/8A​

  • Jack Britt (7A)
  • Overhills (7A)
  • Pine Forest (7A)
