Man, this guy is everywhere:

http://boards.espn.go.com/boards/mb/mb?sport=nba&id=pho&tid=2077526&lid=23

Where did all of these Hawks fans come from?

Yeah, I have been telling them for over a year that the pick will not be good. So, I'm not just coming around. I just found this board:D but on the ESPN, I usually bug them ever 2 months. ;)

I see you guys are continually trying to find excuses for your GM.

First it was "it will be a top 10 pick." I told them on the ESPN board that they need to worry about their pick because the hawks' pick would not help them.
They laughed at me. lol

After the lottery drawing you guys were like, "at least the Hawks didn't get Durant or Greg." Yeah, we ended up getting only our best defender in the low and our team leader in REBs. We got the one guy that is keeping that pick from being a top 10 pick. lol If we had Greg or Durant that Hawks' pick would be a top 10 for you guys next year.

Now that it will not be a top 5 or a top 10. You guys now are saying it was good because you now have Grant. I'm a big Hill fan but the guy only have maybe 2 more good years. Grant was not on your team until this year. You all act like it was your GM's plan to trade JJ and get Hill some years later. lol

The bottom line is that was a dumb trade. Don't give me he did not want to stay. There have been players in the past who have said the same thing but their team would not let them go.

The reason why i'm here??? Suns fans have been talking trash about our team after that trade went down with JJ. THE HAWKS ARE NO LONGER THE LOW BOYS! THANKS TO YOUR TEAM FOR MAKING IT HAPPEN

Your team is under .500 on the road in a terribly weak conference and they give up more points than they score. Until they prove otherwise, they are still mediocre.

you know guys, if you just admitted it was a bad trade (which we all know it was), these guys would go away.

About Josh... I think we should trade him for a center and put Big Al at the PF his true position. If you watch the hawks play Josh hurts us a lot with his 3pts miss. He is still learning the game. So, if we could get a good center I would not be mad. I don't think he is going anywhere. His parents want him to stay in the ATL, his home. But believe me our GM is not going to let him go for peanuts... like your GM did with JJ. As for JJ... This guy is a great team player and will make the Allstar roster. He leads the team in assist and points. He also leads the league in minutes played. I would not say he is thinking of just himself. It takes great commitment and training to put in those kind of minutes. Your GM may want you guys to think that because he knows he looks very dumb with that trade.
I find it very funny on how you guys are trying to claim that it was a good trade when a third of the posts on this forum is killing Diaw. LMAO
Again... Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!

LOL
Did you see the year Diaw had after he got traded

I am pretty sure JJ couldn't replace that

Atleast our GM didnt overpay a 4th option

JJ makes more than Barobsa, Bell, Skinner, and Hill combined

good job, you overpaid a player:wave:

To say JJ was the "4th option" when he was here isn't really accurate. He was number 3. Marion never has plays run for him nor creates for anyone else. And our GM didn't just overpay for a 4th option, he overpaid for a SEVENTH OPTION in Doris.

Of course it was a bad trade in hindsight, but our hand was being forced by JJ. Looking back now, it would've been better to ask for Josh Smith than Diaw, but neither had shown much at the time. It would've been a lot better if we had gotten a solid draft pick out of it, but that probably won't happen now either.

The funniest thing for me though is that JJ has even admitted that demanding a trade away from the Suns was a mistake because he hates losing. He still stands by his decision and supports his team, but if he had the ability to use hindsight then he would've never demanded that trade and he would've appreciated what he had here in PHX.

it was a bad trade at the time as well and many people thought so. And JJ didn't force anything. Our owner's penny pinching ways forced the trade. He lowballed him while trying to get him extended and then he low balled him once he made it to FA.

I think that you are wrong here.

At the end of the day Sarver intended to match ATL's offer sheet but JJ asked him not to do so. The Hawks GM and owners (except Belkin) still feared that the Suns will match the offer that's why they finally signed-and-traded for Johnson.

I think that Diaw and two 1st rounders for JJ was a very good deal considering the fact that JJ wanted to leave anyway.

First off, Hawks fans, you shouldn't bother making fun of a team that is still far better than yours. Come back in 2-3 years when the Hawks are better than the Suns since the Suns are not developing any young talent.

Second, yes it was a horrible trade. We thought it was bad at the time, then Doris fooled us into thinking it might turn out a little better for us since the Suns needed a front court player and he was performing well.

Third, as angry as it makes me that the Hawks got to keep their pick, that wouldn't have happened had the Suns got them to strip off the protection. One may argue that an unprotected pick would cost much more, but the Suns set the price of an unprotected pick rather low when they used one to get RID of a player that was not useless. If it cost 2 picks to get rid of Kurt Thomas it would cost about 6 picks to get rid of Diaw. I assumed Diaw's early laziness had to do with playing on a bottom dweller in the Hawks, but it turns out he just doesn't care about basketball.

Yes, you are correct. According to Sarver, he told JJ that he better get ATL to give a good S&T offer or Sarver would match the offer sheet.

You're making it too black and white that sarver was the bad guy who screwed up obvious decisions.

The contract Joe wanted after '04, I think something like 5/47, wasn't an easy "oh yes let's give him that" contract. I can clearly state that at the time there was no way I would have given him the contract. I listened to Gambo/Ash at the time, they both said there was no way they would give him the contract, and many others felt the same way. Why?

The guy was Mr. Timid who averaged 10 points in the prior 3 seasons, and then averaged 16.5 points on 43%/30% shooting. And he only started to show signs after Marbury/Penny were traded and the rest of the season was a glorified scrimmage for a 29 win team.

Add to that sarver is a new owner coming in, are you giving that guy 5/47?

Ironically enough sarver (and me, and you, and basically every suns fan) said we won't let this happen again with the bitch diaw in '06, so we give him basically the same contract based on about the same level of performance.

And quite honestly diaw in '06 had a higher ceiling then joe in '04. Diaw had played huge in pressure games. Had the ability to post smalls and take bigs off the dribble. Hell, diaw in '06 was more intriguing then joe in '06, even bill simmons had him rated higher in his trade column, and I honestly felt the same way.

So what happens? Sarver and us suns fans get intfrom both ends, as joe becomes a top 15 player and diaw becomes the biggest bitch in the entire league. So how can you:

a) call Sarver penny pinching when he gave diaw the contract?
b) say he low-balled joe in '04, when at the time that was clearly not the consensus?
c) get on him for not giving joe 5/70 in '05? He was at best the third offensive option, but likely our 4th best player. From a personal standpoint, I remember Manu just abusing joe during the season and he accepted a 5/50 contract the year before, was 5/60 that big an insult to joe?
]d) Bottom line, after all that, after '06 it looked like we made out like bandits in the deal, how can you say it was a bad deal in '05? It looked like we had the better player with the higher ceiling, and a top 5 pick.

It sucks royally that the pick is worthless, joe is big time, and diaw is an embarrassment. But don't use sarver as the scape goat, we just got jammed. If you want to blame somebody, how can you not blame the most obvious person? Boris Diaw.

The dude with all the talent in the world but as weak a heart as any professional athlete. You would have to get the great scientists of our time to calculate exactly how many ways he is screwing over this entire organization.

If the suns hadn't signed Q-Rich they probably would have been more willing to pay JJ the money he was asking for.

Your same argument goes against you when you say SA offered Manu 5/50. Manu only averaged 13pts/gm on 41% fg shooting they year before he signed that contract. Joe's numbers were a little better and he was asking for a little less money.
