To bring in Ayton #1 and Doncic @ #2 or 3?

Doncic is threatening to sign an extension with Madrid, even if drafted (by Sactown or possibly Atlanta).

Trade scenarios..

When you find out, you would say hell no.

Just look at the price Philly paid to move up from 3 to 1. They gave up the Kings pick top 1 protected (now that we know the lottery results). To move up from 16 to 2, it would take a mountain of assets, highlighted by Josh Jackson and a very, very lightly protected (top 1 or 2) Suns pick starting next year.

We still aren’t a good team. Even adding Ayton it wouldn’t take much for the wheels to come off (say an injury to Ayton, booker, Jackson). So yes there’s a limit to how much I’m willing to gamble.
You don't want us to staff our roster for progression in the playoffs because one may become injured. Unless you're adding a player with a history of injuries, you staff for the best. If an injury happens, you deal with it.

But to give up before even starting? Let's be the new Suns and not the 50 year old Suns and set our sights high.

Where is it written that the Suns mantra has to remain 'mediocrity'?

The only way for the Suns to reasonably get Doncic is for his agent to manipulate to get him to fall in the draft and the Suns move up into the 8-10 range to get him. I think it can happen, but it would take a LOT of work. It also assumes that there is NOT an acceptable team for Doncic between 2 and 8. It is way to early to be talking about it I guess. This is stuff that would be better conversation the day before the draft.

Wtf? I don’t even see how any of this is a response to my response. Unless you’re saying you’d give up an infinite amount of draft picks in a trade. I said where I would draw the line. And I gave my reasoning. Maybe your line is much further down the road.

I think that even with him threatening to re up with Madrid, someone will still draft him top 5-6. He'd prefer to come here with Coach Igor, but may decide that one of Atlanta, Memphis, Dallas or Orlando is OK. With him not likely to schedule any visits, Sacramento likely goes Bagley, Bamba or JJJ. So we'd likely need to trade for that #2 or #3 if they'd seriously like to get him, if they even can. Don't think Sacramento would go for a trade all the way back to 16 unless they got Chriss, Warren and a pretty good slew of other firsts as well. Not crazy about giving up Warren either, but if it makes that trade possible??

I dont like this idea and i think its highly unlikely. I do not want to give up jackson. We have to try to keep defense in mind. Is Doncic gonna play point? We would still need a true pg. We need to package the picks and warren/bender/chriss to trade up and grab young or try to put together a trade for kemba imo

they can't give up Jackson for Doncic.

He's the only defender they have in the bunch right now, he can make plays for himself, slash and he's a decent passer and I expect with time to become a good passer.

Can they really move him for a guy who won't be able to D like he can, we don't know how he'll be able to create for himself against more athletic guys simply because he's a better passer?

That seems pretty stupid to me. Defense IS part of the game and an important part.

What makes the Warriors such terrors on the court is that it has interchangeable parts, but ALL those parts sans Curry can D up, anywhere from 2-4s. JJ has that ability. He's the interchangeable part that can already be a factor on O AND give us flexibility on D. Doncic won't be able to bring that second part to the table nearly as much as JJ, IMO.

Well, yeah, it's a block buster trade for a guy viewed as a potential superstar. It's going to cost a butt load. If we had top 8 pick (besides our own) to dangle it would be a lot easier.

Let me put it like this:

If Boston offered us Tatum, Sacramento's unprotected pick in 2019, plus 2-3 future firsts with minimal protection for the #1 pick what would you say?

I'm guessing you'd tell them to screw off. And that is a package easily as valuable as the one I proposed, only we're on the receiving instead of giving end of it.

Thats why these deals rarely go down. Everyones perceptions are astronomical

I can't believe the about face some fans have done. People were gloating about not trading Jackson for Kyrie towards the end of the season and how smart it was to hold off on that deal and now they want to include Jackson in a deal for Doncic? Plus throw in more extras than they would have need to for Kyrie? That's ridiculous! Some people here were against Doncic at #2 before the lottery drawing and now they want to give up our future pick, all picks we own, Warren, and Jackson for Doncic? What's changed, honestly? Doncic is the same player he was on Monday. He hasn't had an amazing performance that changed peoples minds, the Suns got the #1 pick and now they should consider trading down or making another deal to get him? Let's take Ayton, look hard for a PG by trading #16 or Warren, or both, and move on, seeking role players in free agency. What has Luka done in the last 4 days to change people's minds so much? Virtually everyone wanted to take Bagley ahead of him. I'd be more inclined to do a deal for Bagley and shore up our frontcourt than trade for Luka.

Yeah. The cost would be huge... and it should be.

And at the same time, I agree, I wouldn't want to give up Jackson, especially not with other firsts, but without that kind of price I don't see Sacramento (or Atlanta should the Kings take Bagley) doing it for less.

If we had another pick in the top 10 (damn Knight trade), it would be a lot more realistic, but asking a team to trade down from #2 or #3 in this draft and the only immediate return is #16... or TJ Warren... that just isn't remotely realistic.

You're confusing what people saying what the trade would likely cost vs if they'd be willing to pay it.

Yeah, I absolutely think it would cost us Jackson + 2 or 3 picks. No, I wouldn't want to pay it.

Just to be clear, and perhaps stir things up even more, I wouldn't trade Josh Jackson for any player in this draft. Not that I don't think some will pass him by but JJ is just that much closer to being a sure thing. And we need a sure thing two way player. BADLY.

That is an interesting comment. I would trade him for Ayton, but no one else. I don't think I would trade him for Tatum, as good as Tatum is. Josh has not had a chance to show his stuff like Tatum.

I think you’re cross referencing a bunch of people by lumping them all together as a collective.

Nobody is saying trade down from the #1 spot. And I certainly am NOT advocating for them to move Jackson. I don't even think they should move Bender in that deal.

Good Lord what are some of you thinking, Luca is not LeBron James!

The kids is really only 6' 6" if that not 6' 8", has about 4 assist a game with over 2 turnovers. All while shooting less than 30% from 3 and around 20% in playoffs. And his career high 14 points again in a wide open eruo league is supposed to be a top talent???? He will be a decent player, but I put him on line with Evan Fourier in Orlando.

I just don't get it at all.

I just don't think there is any realistic way to get both Ayton and Doncic.

We need a PG and the guy I would like to target is SGA in the 8 to 12 range, if he is there.

Something like 16, 31, and a future first, preferably the MIL pick.

Would you do this and would we realistically have any takers?

yup. None of the people who questioned Doncic are even REMOTELY talking about trading the farm for him and are SPECIFICALLY against trading JJ for him.

I would love to get Doncic. I would trade A LOT to get him. I would not trade Booker or Jackson.

Booker Jackson and Ayton are/will be the core players moving forward. If Doncic falls in the draft and we can snag him using a reasonable combination of our other assets great. I would expect that he would have to fall at least to 5. No one is trading a top 4 pick in this draft without a high pick and or star player in return.

What the suns really need is an established, experienced PG to run the team and shoot the three. He does not have to be flashy or big name.

With the assets the suns have this should be more than feasible.

We have:

Next years pick
Miami's pick
Milwaukee's pick
Chriss
TJ
Bender
cap space

Wow this team is in a great spot.

One team that might be open to talks is Memphis for the #4. The key though is the Suns would probably have to eat Parson's salary ($50ish million for next 2 years) and give up Bender along with probably 2 draft picks.

That probably won't get us Doncic, but could net us Young.

You are correct about Memphis.
