I was talking to Melanie Skane tonight, Jim's wife, and found out he's doing spectacular and may be out of ICU in a day or two. Great news!

Anyways, since he's not here, Melanie thought it might be kind of a fun idea for you guys to speculate on what Jim's opinion of hiring Dennis Green would be...if he was here to give it.

Just for fun...

He likes it. Skkorp like Jim O doesnt like to make many waves with decisions made by the front office. Neither would I if I was around the orginization either.

Deep down I bet he has the same reservations about character as I do.

Well, that's not true at all....Jim made tons of waves, and he never hid how he felt about anything, from you guys or the front office.

Flagstaff does get freezin', which is why I go to ASU. :p

As to your character comment, I would contend that 120 degree temperatures build a lot of character as well.

I assume communication (via melanie) from ian and jo has reached Skorp on how well the press conference with Green went..I think Ian went to that press conference with a nuetral feeling on Green..and green blew everyone away with his comments....so I am thinking Skorp could be sold on Dennis Green....

I also know Skorp wanted Mac to open up the offense during the season..and told this to Mac (I think before the Pittsburgh game)...and if there is one guy we were talking to who should know how to run and implement a wide open offense..it would be Green. Green loves to throw the ball downfield....

swd: I think there are probably alot of unhappy cardinals players right now..not all..but some. I am sure there is alot we do not know..and I am sure the players are talking to whoever may have played for Green in the past.. They pretty much all loved mac..so whoever we hired would not win any popularity contest immediately..and I am sure alot of them are nervous regarding their future.

But...it could have been worse for them. After listening to Tom Coughlin on the radio today at his press conference...he sounds like he is tougher than ever.

I am sure Skkorp felt like most of us long suffering Card fans. Hoping we would get a proven coach but afraid we would dilly dally around and end up with Joe Smoe.

Way to go Cards. I think you have turned the corner.

I am not happy with the new coach - but I hope Skkorp thinks it was a good move. Skkorp deserves to be happy with the team right now - I wouldn't want him to be upset about what is going on with the Cards at this moment. He deserves to be happy with things right now.

I think that he would have rather had Fassel. The undisciplined Vikings team of yesteryear will be lingering in his mind and I know that was one of the big things that Jim hated about this team.

However, if we couldn't get Fassel, I bet he is happy we got Green. Or Rich Kotite. :)

Which is why Roy Williams makes sense, now more than ever.

I guess he will be happy as the rest of us. Well, the rest of us except Tango, Bratwurst and Harley Rider.

Get well Skkorp. Rather than speculate as to your opinion, I'm willing to wait a few days and let you give it yourself. Hurry up and get back here big guy. We miss ya!!

First of all, good news about Skkorp (Jim - Hope you have that "thing" removed from your breathing tube).

Second, I think jfk's take is dead-on.

I'm not sure if he'd have preferred Jim Fassel, though (Some of the Giant players supposedly stopped listening to Jim also).

Then again, what might have impressed Skkorp would be Green's commitment to "bringing a total winning program" to the Valley (suggesting better advanced scouting and game prep, more demanding attitude toward execution, more crisply-run drills etc.).

Considering that it took the Cardinals last 6 coaches and almost 2 decades to match the winning total of Dennis Green, I would say that Skkorp would be happy with signing. Skkorp wants to win and Green is a proven winner!
