STANFORD DEFENSIVE BACK RETURNING TO THE PORTAL

The fallout from Stanford’s firing of former head coach Troy Taylor continued with the announcement from incoming transfer Julian Neal that he would be re-entering the transfer portal. The former Fresno State standout transferred to Stanford in December after a strong three-year stint with the Bulldogs.

This past season he posted four pass breakups, two interceptions and allowed just one touchdown on 330 coverage snaps, according to Pro Football Focus.

FORMER BIG TEN, SEC LINEBACKER RE-ENTERING THE PORTAL

Missouri’s No. 4 overall transfer class took a hit on Thursday when linebacker Mikai Gbayor announced he would be leaving the Tigers. This is the second time he is transferring this offseason. ANOTHER FORMER PURDUE STARTER EXPECTED TO TRANSFER

Four games into the 2024 season, Markevious Brown left the Boilermakers. The former Ole Miss defensive back started the first four games of the 2024 season and all but one during the 2023 season. Brown originally signed with Ole Miss as part of the 2021 recruiting class but transferred to Purdue after the 2022 season.

He played sparingly with Ole Miss but at Purdue he logged nearly 1,000 snaps, accounting for nine pass breakups and two forced fumbles while allowing four touchdowns.

HIGHLY TOUTED CLEMSON UNDERCLASSMAN SET TO ENTER PORTAL

Tavoy Feagin held more than 50 scholarship offers as a Rivals250 prospect in Clemson’s 2024 recruiting class. Feagin played in just two games this past season and now the Alabama defensive back legacy prospect is set to enter the transfer portal.

Ole Miss, Louisville, Florida, Mississippi State and North Carolina are some of the places where Feagin could land.

ANOTHER CLOWNEY AT SOUTH CAROLINA

Jadeveon Clowney was a star at South Carolina before going on to be the first overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. Now his cousin, Demon Clowney, is going to suit up for the Gamecocks.

Head coach ShaneBeamer had alluded to the need for additional support on the defensive line in the transfer portal and he is getting his wish with Clowney, who spent the first three years of his college career at Ole Miss and the last two at Charlotte.

NC STATE BOLSTERS DEFENSIVE FRONT

Head coach Dave Doeren and the Wolfpack signed two transfers this week that should help solidify their front seven on defense. Sabastian Harsh, a defensive end from Wyoming, was credited with 38 quarterback pressures, five sacks and 62 tackles over the past two seasons.

NC State also signed former Northwestern linebacker Kenny Soares Jr., who has logged more than 560 snaps and is credited with 19 quarterback pressures, three sacks, 38 tackles and one batted pass in the past two seasons.

Both players should find themselves in the rotation for NC State this coming season.
