If trading Rosen and drafting Murray makes your engine run Kliff, cool spiced beans. If being safe and drafting Bosa, is what is the prudent thing to do, great. If Josh Allen is a better fit for the defense, then I will go along. This draft I am going to throw my opinion to the side if the guy picked is what Kingsberry desires and it results in us winning. Yes, one can say that every draft but frankly I do not have any idea what rocks his boat and what this new offense and possible revert to our 3-4 defense requires... but please no OL or TE in a trade down, that would be too much Keim thinking he does not have a short leash on his job :)

We will have a clearer picture after the start of free agency. It will all start with what we do with Buchanon and Golden.

I just hope that Keim and Kingsbury can be cohesive. It does no good for our gm to pick players that aren’t going to play on Sunday’s.

Make us proud Keim and Kingsbury.:)

I'm guessing that, by Draft day, K2 and Keim will have figured out the drafting pecking order (with MB having final say in case of ties).

My main concern is that the three of them think themselves into a knot and we repeat the fiasco also known as the "Suggs draft."

I was always under the impression that in order to avoid confusion or disagreements on draft day, everybody agreed on a final board well before the draft. Then on draft day, simply take whoever's next on your board. No confusion or hard feelings because those things were already hashed out days ago.

At least that's the way Keim always sold it. Maybe the biggest piece of contradicting evidence would be the third round scene from the 2018 draft, when Wilks wanted to take Edmunds and Keim wanted Cole. Was Keim sticking to the board? Was an audible called? Maybe that just demonstrates the lack of symbiosis between the two?

I'd like to think that pre-agreement to a BPA approach and "trusting the board" is what they do, but I worry that "talk is cheap" and there may be a departure from that approach, especially at crunch time. (i.e. sometimes the grapevine leaks out rumors that Keim wanted one thing and the HC wanted another and it makes you nervous).

Terrific 2-page piece in today's NY Daily News by Chuck Modiano (End Zone):

Title: "Who's the Genius" - "Breaking down white privilege in the NFL coaching pipeline."

It treads very carefully on "race" and issues a bunch of awards: ("Nepotism Football League" - contenders included the Shanahans, Gruden Brothers, Shulas and Turners. " Brilliant Offensive Mind" OC pipeline award - M Morninweg, K Shanahan, M Trestman) "Brilliant Offensive Mind"- HC Award - A Lynn), Also - "College Coach Genius Award" and "The Next "Belichick" Award."

Great read - certainly a timely one for this board.

Sorry, no linky (I get my Daily News the old fashioned (hard copy) way.

I care less and less about the draft, with every Patriots SB appearance, I'm not a big watcher of College ball (usually just bowl games/championship etc) However I am a huge NFL fan, and can name the top 10 or so of each teams better players...I look at the Pats, and know the usual suspects (Brady, Gronk and Edelman.... and the rest of the roster is almost nameless/faceless to me.

How the hell do you pick last or second to last almost every year, and march out a Championship caliber team??

That nameless Chandler Jones guy was a good addition though... but even that furthers your point on how they can still win :)

Good point. Instead of paying Jones big bucks they traded him to us, and did their normal Patriot thing. He has been great for us but he is our highest paid player this and last year we had the worse team in the league and they won the damed SB again. :bang:

With our 2nd round pick? I'm ok with that. 1st overall and the cards will have officially gone degenerate mode and spent their rent money on a 50 to 1 horse this year between KK and a #1 on Murray. Could it pay big, of course... But the other 50 times you will be living in your car for a while.

Amen. Pretty much my take too. I love Murray, but if we end up with Bosa/Allen & Rosen, then I'll trust K2 for taking that approach.

Trust the process. Draft the best player on the board, rank the players in the remaining rounds and draft them. Rams lost because Todd Gurley is a head case and melted down. I expect David Johnson and Christian Kirk to have phenomenal seasons next year. Fitzgerald wouldn’t have come back if he didn’t have faith in the process. Todd Gurley is an all time choke artist

Please no to them doing anything crazy or stupid. Draft Bosa or Allen and move on to round two.
