What's going on as of Now

We play the 49ers on the road Sept 13th.

We will have no fans at our first 2 home games at least.

Cut down day to 53 is this Saturday.

They will use practice tape to decide who stays & who goes.

16 players on the practice squad. 4 players can be protected from other teams.

2020 will be a good yr.

We will win the division.

Who wants to take bets that Hakeem is one of these guys. I think it may be a foregone conclusion at this point. I bet there will be some surprises in the other three.

• Hakeem Butler - Obvious
• Josh Jones - Allows us to keep a vet for a bit longer on the active roster.
• Eno Benjamin - Love him. Foster may be better on ST's though.
• Evan Weaver - We have three ILB's (Hicks, Campbell, Simmons) and Gardeck for ST's.

Dr. Jones, you do realize that players have to pass through waivers, before they can be put on the PS. There is no way that Jones would be cut, and I doubt that Eno or Weaver would be cut, either.

I thought the protection piece would allow us to block them from the waiver process. I may be misinformed.

They can be blocked from being taken off the squad but are exposed to get there. BTW the 4 protected players can be changed each week. Apparently if another team selects a player not protected you have to put him on the roster to save him. You can’t just make him “protected.”

I think this is why there is a shroud of secrecy. You might see a guy like weaver get cut because nobody else has seen him.
I think teams are going to stick with a known commodity because of this off season unless they were drastically wrong on a player or hit by the injury bug a particular Position.

I think Butler is getting cut - will not be on the practice squad at all. Jojo Ward will be the receiver we add to the practice squad

Josh Jones will be on the active roster, they will get him playing time before the season is over.

I haven't seen much of Eno - but if he isn't better than Foster we may as well just cut him, because foster sucks.

Weaver probably is going to the practice squad.

I think you have 1 of the 4 right. Hakeem Butler. No way Jones doesn't make the 53 man roster but I understand your point about keeping an extra vet.
