What's up with Xtra Sports 910

The day Jurecki interviewed Graves and found out about the injury waivers, I called Xtra Sports that afternoon, 3ish, to find out why they weren't reporting it. They said they hadn't heard and would look into it. I didn't hear them mention it for two more days and made it sound like no big deal. In fact, they seem to be somewhat anti-Cards. Anyone know whats up with those guys?

There are only about 50,000 true die-hard Cardinals fans in the Valley, while there are approximately 350,000 die-hard Cardinal haters here.

Being anti-Cardinal means more listeners, hense more money from advertisers.

Besides which, KDUS is the official radio station of the Arizona Cardinals, so they have to play it straight...

Likes to appeal to the lowest common denominator.

One has to only listen to one of their shows that has 2 hours about Russian Brides and how American women suck...to realize that they are the Jerry Springer of Valley Sports Radio.

In fact, they do very little local coverage. I would guess that Gambo spends as much time talking about New York teams as he does local teams.


Listen to 1060, 860, 620...whatever...just not them.

Yesterday's show was basically Asher and the guys in the booth trying to convince Gambo that Clay on American Idol is gay. Then there was Gambo talking about the Yankees, etc. I usually listen to KDUS or a non-sports show (Dave Ramsey), but tune into Gambo and Ash every once in awhile for parts of their show - like when they talk with Schilling or crank call people on Thursdays for the 4-some of golf.

15 years and I have yet to meet anyone who HATES the Cards....outside of the boards.

Very true. Quite frankly most football fans I run into are looking for reasons why not to.

We must run in different circles then...I have had people openly laugh at me in line at stores when I'm in my Cards gear, and I've had people behind the counter at shops mock me because I had a Cards hat on. I've talked to people at work, and in bars, that swear that they will never like or follow or support the Cardinals, sometimes they question my sanity and character. I even know people whose hatred runs so deep that they refuse to go to a game with me when their team is in town, even if I provide the tickets, lunch, and the booze. Scratch the surface, and you will find a lot of resentment and hatred towards the Cardinals orginization.

... is what i get from fans of other teams. I tell 'em I don't care, then i laugh back at them for being Suns fans and following team X in the NFL

I think that says it all right there. Phoenix, Az, where if you've been there more than 7 years, people tend to think they are "native" or something. The valley is over-run with displaced people from somewhere else, who keep trying to make Phoenix like where they came from.....still living in the past somewhere else.....Gambordino and Bickley are classic examples.

...Always makes me wonder....if where they came from was so great....why did they come here?
