I liked whats I saw in him potentially. He is very athletic, he has a solid body for his age. I think he could become a good defender because of his good footwork.

But I didnt like how he seemed to hog the ball when he got it instead of playing a team friendly style. There is no doubt Lampe has one of the nicest looking jumpers. And as much "bad" shots he took last year he did have a solid FG%

I see Lampe more as a center than a PF. He has a big thick frame, that with age can get very strong.

I dont think he is ready to be a starter. But I hope he calms down in his second year and lets his shots come to him, instead of forcing up stuff. If he stops forcing stuff I would be ALOT higher on him than I am.

He is still one to two years away from being a contributer to this team.

I'm not counting on a huge contribution from him this season, but I think he will show something before the season is out.

I think Lampe is going to be a good player in the NBA, and perhaps very good. There's little wrong with his game that experience won't substantially remedy. Unfortunately, this experience will have to come mostly from games because there Suns don't have anyone that can challenge him in practice as far as strength goes - which is a crucial area if we are hoping he'll be able to defend centers.

It's a shame we can't farm him out to the Pistons or Pacers for a couple of years to learn how to defend - watching Voskuhl and Amare I'm convinced the Suns have no coach that knows the rudiments of defense in the paint. I know Iavaroni is supposed to know something but the evidence on the floor is that he doesn't.

At least Amare will get some quality practice on the Olympic team. Learning to defense Duncan would be a nice start.
