I keep the rosters updated for season 1, then I go out and sign guys.

In the 2004-05 season I traded McDyess for Yao (they took it  ), traded Eisley for a 2nd round pick to New York, and signed Kobe as a free agent. The ratings in that game are really F'ed up and they have the salaries wrong

I was playing: 2003-2004

C- McDyess
PF - Amare
SF - Marion
SG - Johnson
PG - Barbosa

Now: 2004-2005

C- Yao Ming
PF - Stoudemire
SF - Marion
SG - Kobe
PG Barbosa

I went into ESPN NBA basketball for the Xbox and redid the rosters for most of the teams (yes, I have no life--at least, that day I didn't). I went in and created a few players as well (like Francisco Elson on Denver and Ronald Murray on Seattle). It makes it pretty realistic, although I'm still trying to find the happy medium with the sliders. I tried it and ended up beating the Spurs by like 60 points in my first game.

Anyway, I actually have my starters like this:

Barbosa PG
JJ SG
Marion SF
Amare PF
McDyess C

I have Googs on the IL, with Lampe on the active roster. But it's tough because ratings-wise, Googs is better than a lot of the guys. McDyess is actually rated pretty high in the game.

I played some dyansty on nba live with the updated rosters. I made the playoffs as the 8th seed then in the offseason I signed Allen Iverson and Steph to minimum one year contracts. I quickyl remembered how unrealistic nba live can be.

C- Camby
F- Amare
F- Marion
G- Iverson
G- Steph

6thman- JJ

btw

The best basketball game out there is "NBA-Street Vol. 2". That game just rocks, I never play the simulations anymore.

The only EA Sports games I play right now are Madden, Fifa, NBA Street 2.
Will get NFL Street before the weekend.

NBA Street is a totally different kind of game.

Come on Chap, you and I know both know that's unfair.

It's not that he sucks, it's that he's overpaid and will cripple the long term future of the Suns 3 on 3 team ;)

i'm in my second season of Espn 2k4

I have

Voskul
Amare
Marion
Hammond (a rookie)
JJ

Hammond won ROY, Amare won Defensive player of the year, and Zarko won the 6th man award

I traded Dyess, White and 1st round pic for Ilgausgas* (ok... thats horrid spelling... Z from Cleveland  ) and 2 first rounds picks.

I'm made the playoffs in the no 3 spot and have two lottery picks, and have Z's contract of 165k off the books. but have to extend amare and Casey. I'm thinking of low balling Casey :)

I'm still yet to play live 2004. Is it better then 2k4? And why?

NBA games are the most unrealistic games because you have the most control. If Amare is open for a 3 pointer, I shoot it, and he makes it about 35% of the time. Amare isn't going to sit there and chuck 3's in real life. Plus, I don't know about you, but as soon as I in bound the ball, I am pushing up court for a score. The 24 second clock has no meaning, I score in like 8 seconds and the computer comes back and scores in 8 seconds. So the scores get out of hand, and so does your team's stats.

I've never been into fantasy sports, which may seem surprising considering how much I use statistics. Overall, I would guess that fantasy baseball is probably the most realistic because they can generate more valuable stats. In basketball, really important stuff is strictly team stats like opponents shooting percentages, turnovers not listed as steals. There is too much other stuff like great passes prior to the assist, picks and screens, boxing out, getting back on defense, etc. which aren't measured but win games.

So, when Is Dice going to start at center? :D

Ido the exact same thing its terrible, If a guy has a breakout season I create him,to give him the skills he has, I watch transactions consistently and always fix it.

I think Im the only one who is playing Inside Drive '04. Thats ok though...its the step-cousin to the big games....BUT, it is a basketball realists dream. It is the most authentic NBA simulation I have ever played. Trust me, shoot a 3 with Amare and expect a 50/50 chance that he clanks it off the top of the backboard. Or, put Lampe on Shaq and watch him get abused on every posession. The computer will see the mismatch and exploit it until you figure out a way to stop them. It makes it very realistic, and fun.

Just for the hell of it I did just that, gave Lampe the start against Shaq and he put up 12 on me in a matter of 4 minutes. I couldnt stop him. Also, the teams have an authentic playbook so you will see teams run their actual offense. This is unlike ESPN which only has FOUR DEFAULT PLAYS!! And they are the same for each team! That KILLED it for me. Every single team played the same way.

Anyways my roster at the start of year 2 looks like this:

J.Johnson
Bryant (Free agent!)
Marion
Amare
Lampe

Barbosa
W. Person / Jacobsen
Zarko / Anderson (rookie)
McDyess / Zarko
Voskuhl / Marcus (rookie)
misc crappy players :)
