When will Shaq be traded?

I think it's time to start a new thread about this.

Shaq to Detriot for AI. AI should fit gun & run well, we can go extremely small with him. He is all about expiring contract anyway. That will also send him to the east, probably prefered. It's never been mentioned, but think about it for the Pistons, I bet they will love it.

Shaq to Dallas for Stackhouse, and a player by our pick. Josh Howard, if we like him to be the future SF. Dampier, if Amare doesn't want to play C any more. Good part is we get more than just money, bad part is, do you mind if Dallas reach the final?

I think the Dallas one is more likely. We definitely need to have Damp, and I would take Howard instead of Stack.
U never know about the playoff seeding. Maybe they get knocked off by the Lakeshow in the semi's :p

Sarver will not take both Dampier and Josh Howard back, that doesn't meet the ultimate goal : SAVE MONEY. It will be either one of them plus expiring contract.

I don't know how good Dallas will become with Shaq. Probably not enough to take out the Lakers, but Cuban would definitely like to gamble on this, he doesn't care about money. Damn, how fortunate it is to be a fan of the Mavs? ...

JHo could go elsewhere maybe for a bit of depth at other positions and a capable center a la Camby or Rasheed I would hope.

Since theyve shipped out Porter its unlikely the Suns will make any major trades now, they're going to want to see if Gentry can make this lineup work.

So you want a known Doper and PR disaster?

Josh Howard is not what this franchise needs given the current PR

If we package Barnes with Shaq away then it would be howard/Hill/tucker at SF. He should fit well if Gentry is doing the run and gun properly like DA

There's no way the Suns are taking on Dampier's contract.

The contract of Josh Howard is about exactly same as Dampier. So money is not the problem. It is all about whether or not Amare wants to play C again. If not, Dampier is the perfect fit.

I can see a trade with Portland Shaq & Tucker for LaFrenez, Bayless, & Frye. Portland is not going to keep Frye and LaFrenez. They get a big man that can start I just don't think Oden is ready to be a full time starter yet. I don't think we would deal with a West team but you never know.

Shaq and Pryzbilla don't get along well, it would most likely be a swap of them instead of frye. But I get the UA incentive.

I agree and I definitely don't want them to. Josh Howard will expire after the 09-10 season, the same as Shaq, but Dampier is owed another 13 million during the 10-11 season. My understanding is that Shaq will only be traded for expiring contracts this year, unlikely. That may change next year when his contract is expiring and might fetch some decent talent, but I doubt it. $21 million falling off the cap is huge.

A VERY LARGE portion of Damps salary for that year is incentive based. . . . incentives which he has already not meet ( 2 all-star appearances). That's the appeal of that contract.

That's interesting. Do you know how much is guaranteed?

Not it is not. It is all about whether or not Amare should be Center again. The answer is a resounding no.

Amare can't play center. Especially defensively. If you look at the stats Amare plays worse defense at the center position then he does power forward.

Trading Shaq is plain stupid at this point. Who are you going to get in a trade better then Shaq at the center position? Then trade him for Howard and a washed up forward in Stack?? WTF?

Again if you are saying trade Shaq because you want to blow up the team well then Amare and Nash need to be in this discussion.

Even if all of Dampier's 2010-11 contract can be eliminated, it will expire the same time as Shaq's as well as Howard. The question becomes would you rather have Howard and Dampier for the next year and a half or Shaq. I'll take Shaq.

I'd rather have Howard. The Suns are going to be starved for talent come 2010, and attracting free agents may be difficult. Howard will be only 30 then and could be extended. He's not great, but I don't see a lot of ways that the Suns will be able to land players of even his modest caliber.

+1. Howard will be 30 and I think I have had enough of this team trying to build something around 30 somethings. Also, I threw up in my mouth when someone actually mentioned "DAMP" in a Suns uniform. I would rather have Pat Burk back.....OK....maybe that's going too far.....but not by much.

My cat has more heart, desire, and hustle at the five spot than Dampier...and she's been dead for ten years.
