I'm not saying that it definitely will be a problem, just that it could be a problem. I hope he is in on time, but the Winslow deal will effect him in that the picks usually go in reverse order in the first round. Poston said he will negotiate for Winslow as a player who could've gone anywhere in the top six. Not #6, but anywhere in the top 6. Winslow has said he is happy with last years #6 money, but he hired Poston, and that is where the power now is.

I don't know that it will be a huge problem for Fitz, I am just offering a warning that there are a lot of circumstances out of the Cardinals hands that may make a timely signing difficult.
DG doesn't have holdouts.

No coach in the NFL has holdouts. Teams do. The Cardinals have holdouts. They have a history of players holding out. It has nothing to do with the coach. When Green enters the negotiating room, then you can make a statement like that.

And for the record, Robert Smith held out two straight seasons under Coach Green.

DG will not be negotiating contracts. It is up to Rod Graves, John Idzik, and the Bidwills.

Have to agree with Jim O on this one. DG won't be negotiating contracts.

I don't remember anything about Robert Smith.
The time has come for the Cards to stop being the suckers of the NFL. To let players and agents use and abuse them and then take off.
The time has come for the Cards to dictate and not be dictated too. The time has come for the Cards to be run in a professional manner. IMO

You say they have a history of holdouts, what happened last year?

Last year being the first year of the Rod Graves/M Bidwill era.

granted - last year was an unusally easy (on the contrary to what a lot of people thought was going to be the "toughest year yet to sign 1st round picks"- you included) year for 1st round picks to sign - and we were still one of the last 5 teams to do so - but we'll see what happens this year with a high pick - Graves getting him on time will be just another positive step he's made and I hope it happens.

Over the history of the team, last year was an exception and not a rule. It definitely shows they have taken a step in the right direction and I hope that continues this year, but there is no doubt that the Cardinal organization has a history of holdouts.

Last year was the best they did in a long time with their first round pick(s), but remember, neither Pace nor Johnson was in Flagstaff when camp opened. They're getting there, but there are still improvements to be made. To erase the history they have, and get rid of their reputation, the Cards need to have their first round picks consistently signed before camp begins.

I was thrilled by those contracts, but both guys missed the start of camp. So, technically, they were holdouts.
