Florida State cleared the first hurdle last Sunday, when the Seminoles were selected to their 12th consecutive NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament.

The next hurdle awaits Saturday, when sixth-seeded FSU (23-8) faces 11th-seeded George Mason (27-5) in the opening round in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Tip-off is 7:45 pm. ET on ESPN2 at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

It will be the first meeting between the Seminoles of the ACC and the Patriots of the Atlantic 10. This is also George Mason's first appearance in the NCAA Tourney in school history.

The second game in the Spokane 1 Regional bracket at 9:15 p.m. features No. 3 LSU and No. 14 San Diego State.

The NCAA Women's Tournament started Friday and concludes on April 6 in Tampa.

The Seminoles feature plenty of star power in the trio of guard Ta'Niya Latson, forward Makayla Timpson, and guard O'Mariah Gordon.

Latson is the nation's leading scorer at 24.9 points per game and earlier this week was named a second-team All-American by the Associated Press. Timpson was an honorable mention. FSU also led the ACC in scoring at 87.2 points per game.

George Mason, meanwhile, led the A10 conference in scoring (73.7 ppg) and rebounding (40 rpg) The Patriots are led by Zahirah Walton (15.1 ppg).

The Seminoles opened as a 4.5-favorite to win, according to Via BetMGM.
