Being the 5th highest paid player in the NBA will do that.

I'd say the NTC is a bigger detriment than his salary. Throw in the 2nd apron restrictions, not just for us but league wide, and it's easy to see why Beal can't be traded. All 3 things are more of an issue than his play. I'd put health as #4 also.

Reasons Beal hasn't been traded

1 - NTC
2 - Luxury Tax Restrictions in CBA
3 - Top 5 salary
4 - Health issues
5 - Performance

JJ deserves honorary mention at the least. He's got tunnel vision and isn't proactive. I don't think he's tried finding a Beal trade outside of Miami. You need a GM who will work the phones to find a deal to make a deal happen. All reports are Beal hasn't been approached about waiving his NTC so JJ hasn't found a deal and likely hasn't tried.

Oh, I think James Jones is active, but he is stealthy.

He may go by other names, such as deju vu and innuendo.

.
I doubt he’d be moved even without a NTC. He’s a top-75ish player being paid like a perennial MVP candidate.

Jimmy Butler and Heat owner Micky Arison are meeting today in Miami, per source.

Butler won’t back down on his trade demands planning to reiterate he will never be part of the Heat again after this season.

After this meeting, a resolution on Butler’s future should crystallize.

Man I am getting bad vibes the Suns are going to go all in after the meeting with Butler and the Heat ownership. I am hoping Ownership calms things down but I have bad vibes. If the Suns compound this decision by trading away Allen and/or Royce to stock up on picks to make this happen? Man....I am going to be pulling my hair out.

The more this team struggles over the next several games might be the deciding factor as well. Hoping for a run.

Even without the NTC, it's the worst contract in the league. A profoundly negative asset.

This might be a sign that the owner calmed things down and Butler is going nowhere.
Maybe. Or maybe we'll see the Jimmy Butler who played but absolutely tanked his performance to force his exit in Chicago. But regardless of whichever Butler returns to the court, I hope none of them land in Phoenix.

Marc Stein on the Bucks and Jimmy Butler:"The Bucks, to this point, have been more frequently painted as a team likely to rekindle their previous interest in Phoenix's Bradley Beal if they intend to pursue a trade for a player in the $50 million range."

I just don't get this either. Would I let them have Beal. Hell yes. IDK, do they have legal marijuana in Milwaukee? They must be smoking something good.

Brian Windhorst says Jimmy Butler only goal is to get to PHX“Jimmy # 1 goal is to get traded to Suns. Everything else is secondary… if it doesn’t mean trading to the Suns, Jimmy is not going to be interested in right now… Butlers best move is to just focus and play, I think that’s on the table but not until after the trade deadline”(Via The Hoop Collective)

I am not in on Butler. I can't see us moving Beal on his own. Only if Milwaukee is really desperate. Even then the Beal family may want to stay in PHX.

Good lord...

I would venture a guess that we won't even sniff a playoff spot from 2027-2033. High lotto pick after high lotto pick.

Maybe, but Mat Ishbia seems to be playing advanced chess. I would never bet against the brain power that has gone into this.
I never heard of trading a first round pick for three, although I jokingly told my daughter the Suns might do something like this.

She couldn't understand why a team would do it. I told her it has to do with the value of the pick.

From what I've seen of Ishbia's front office acumen, he's playing tiddly winks and he doesn't know the rules.

One thing for sure, Ishbia doesn't dwell on mistakes. I like the idea he is willing to move on.

One can bet, he has brilliant minds behind him.

See... I disagree. IMO, he is compounding previous mistakes. The Durant deal was a monumental disaster but he can't admit that and move on, instead he is digging the hole deeper.
