I truly hope Kurt Warner finds the Tom Brady/Peyton Manning type money he is looking for. I really wanted him back in 2009. But even if he does return the writing is clearly on the wall that this team- by the day (and minutes)- is turning over to QB Matt Leinart. And it should. Matt- who had one aweful pre-season game which cost him the starting job in 2008.

Matt Leinart is a big, athletic and decently mobile "left" handed quarterback. Basically he is everything that can give a defense trouble. He has shown great flashes over the past few years (notably the first half vs Bears in 2006, and closing the game out vs Steelers in 2007). He was 3-2 as the starter in 2007 before getting injured for the season. He had the luxury of watching & learning Whiz's complex offense for an entire 2008 regular & post season.

Matt is now entering his 4th year in the NFL. I expect a break-out type season from him- especially when your throwing to Larry Fitzgerald, Boldin, Doucet, etc.

Whether Warner re-signs or not, I wouldn't be surprised if Leinart cleanly beats him out in pre-season for the starting job. Maybe Warner's hold up with the Cardinals is just that- he is not guarenteed the starting role in 2009!

Go Cardinals!

I agree mostly. Warner wants the type of money that would ensure he remains the starter. The funniest part about that is that he should know by now that Whiz could care less what the contract is when deciding on playing time. I want to see what Leinart can do.

I hate to side with the Warnerites, but some of you are just insane. Granted Kurt doesn't have a lot of time left, but HE JUST TOOK US TO THE SUPER BOWL. Kurt was clearly the leader on offense, and our offense was the reason we made it to the super bowl. Again, HE TOOK THE CARDINALS TO THE SUPER BOWL. Does anyone here seriously think that Leinart is a super bowl qb?

I know some are excited about Leinart, and I wish him the best. Based on what I've seen of him as a pro, Warner is a far superior option for the time being. If Warner does leave, we'd better figure something out with the running game, because if the Cards expect Leinart to run a Warner-type offense, I expected them to be really disappointed.

Yes he did just take us to the Superbowl and ...he threw a game killer of a int right at the half

While Matt be better than Kurt, very unlikely, what is also as unlikely is that Kurt would have another season like last year. he is getting older and that hurts your performance.
