What I wanna know is why do Canadians have to have a Cup for every sport that teams engrave on them?

Also surprised the CFL championship game is the largest sporting event in Canada.. (i googled it too).. I would have thought for sure something hockey related would be bigger.. Does America even televise the CFL championship game? I cant remember ever seeing a CFL game on tv down here... Not that I wanna see.. Again.. I got college football to watch..

The "cups" were donated by our Governor's General of the past. The Queen's representative in Canada: Lord Grey (Football) - Lord Stanley (Stanley Cup)

I'm sort of sad for the lack of love Hamilton is getting. Maybe their colors and image are just too close to the Steelers...? I am kind of excited to see a game there this season. I dig old dumpy stadiums with history.

screw the cfl.. we still have college football

Trouble is that so many college games are so one sided they're not worth watching.

I mean I can't wait for that Alabama-Kent State Game or Texas-Rice or Ohio State-Akron. And that huge rivalry game between the Arizona Wildcats and Northern Arizona or ASU-UC Davis.

I've seen enough one sided games as a Cardinal fan to last me a lifetime.

:D

With the way that the Longhorns have been playing lately, that game with Rice is going to come down to the wire! ;)

One bad season in 13 years and the haters come out.

But we got even with the folks in Arizona. We sent ya'll John Mackovic.

:D

But just to get back to my point, combined over the last 7 UT v Rice games, all UT wins, the Longhorns have outscored the Owls by a total of 330 to 78.

Stevie Baggs tried out for our team last offseason. He got cut but in the CFL he is one of the best defensive players in the league. He plays for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats so I'll root for them.

I'm changing to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers

From a message board thread on the worst CFL teams of all time:

The 1970 Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Just an awful team. 2-14. Scored something like 191 points in 16 games. No running back. No qb. No receivers. They lost their only All Canadian player, flanker Ken Nielsen when he was forced to retire because of a broken neck suffered when he ran full speed into the goal post while trying to catch a Ron Lancaster pass in the 1970 CFL All Star Game in the preseason early July. With that kind of bad luck, you just knew they were in for a dreadful season & they didn't disappoint.
The Bombers had a decent defense that was on the field 75% of the time because of the constant 2 & outs of the offense. So they were gassed by the fourth quarter & were unable to hold any leads late in a game.
They went thru at least 3 starting qbs that season that I remember, Wally Gabler, Ron Johnson & Benji Dial. There may have been one or two more qbs but I don't recall so if there were they sure didn't stand out. Offensive linemen, receivers & running backs were also shuffled in & out of the lineup constantly.
As a young frustrated fan, I also remember if the offense had to go more than half a football field to score they couldn't. Putting together 3 first downs in a row was something truly special for the Bombers offense in a game.

That sounds like something a Cardinal fan can relate to.

:D
