Which college divisions do the Cardinals draft from?

7 Cardinal players from the ACC, 5 from the Big Ten and a smattering from other divisions.

Doubt it's a correlation/causation style of thing, but it's an interesting look at how the team drafts.

It may be that the scout(s) which is responsible for the area of the country that encompasses most of the Big Ten and ACC is doing a better job of "selling" his prospects the higher-ups.

Or not. Just strictly a coincidence?

I know Keim used to scout in the ACC area. He was the scout that got us to draft Adrian Wilson. He probably still has a lot of contacts in the area.

My college fandom is injured, but from the outside it's hard to disagree. That said a division doesn't make a player, I think guys like Bobby Sanders help offset the common perception of lack of speed.

This years can't miss prospect from the Big 12. Maclin from Mizzou unless Bradford comes out then either one but first I'd take Bradford.

it depends on what side of the ball you're drafting. I would stay away from the Big12 and Pac 10(other than USC) if drafting defense and away from the Big 10(except Beanie Wells) for offense.

I agree to a point, but seems like Michigan cranks out linemen year after year. Not sure if that will be the case anymore with Rodriquez there.

I like Crabtree alot more than Maclin. I do love Maclin's speed, but Crabtree is very similar to Boldin only faster.

Steve Breaston, Gabe Watson, Levi Brown, Kenny Iwebama, Alan Branch are those 5 players from the Big Ten. I would say 2 Very good picks, 2 remains to be seen, and 1 bust. Hardly too many big 10 players.

I guess i was talking more about skill players. You're right, some good OL come out of the Big 10.

We need to draft more guys from Tenn. State.

Small school defensive players rock.

4 of the top 5 QB sack leaders are from "small" schools, Joey Porter- Colorado State, DeMarcus Ware- Troy, James Harrison-Kent State and Jared Allen-Idaho State.

I don't mind the ACC players from Florida State as long as they're not 5'3".

Conferences ebb and flow in talent level, as do invidual teams. Historical draft patterns reflect this. Some trends persist.

Boston College produces lots of good pro offensive linemen.
USC is synonymous with great pro RBs.
Penn State is LB University.
Notre Dame for TEs still today.
The SEC for speed on defense.
Big Ten for power run blockers and power RBs.
Florida schools for defensive linemen.

Things are changing again and the ACC, Big East, Mountain West and other conferences have more talent than ever before.
This year, the Big 12 looks to have the most talent.
