NFC West - combined record 34-26 This division looked the strongest on paper, with all four teams in contention for the playoffs. The injuries to Super Bowl runners-up San Francisco has made this division less competitive. The NFC West could yet boast three teams in the playoffs, with the Rams and Cardinals in contention to join the Seahawks. However, that would require the Bears to lose. NFC South - combined record 30-30 A mixed bag. Two strong teams in the Saints and the Bucs, and two not so strong teams in the Panthers and the Falcons. Still, two playoff teams from this division should not be sniffed at. NFC East - combined record 21-38-1 The worst division in football. Although the NFC East has been far better in the second half of the season, taking a number of out-of-division scalps. Washington or Dallas will be in the playoffs most likely, although the Giants could also still make it if they beat the Cowboys and Washington lose. Who would have had the Eagles as the only side out of contention in week 17 at the start of the season? NFC North - combined record 31-29 This division has been weaker than expected as the Vikings have not been as strong as anticipated. The Packers have been the best team in the NFC, however, and the Bears could join them in the playoffs. The less said about the Lions the better.
