Consensus has begun to form around which top prospect will get taken first overall at the NFL Draft in Green Bay next month, with the Tennessee Titans looking like a natural home for Miami quarterback Cam Ward.
Throughout the past year, the top pick in the 2025 draft has never really moved beyond a group of four players, with Ward joining Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter, Colorado cornerback Travis Hunter and Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders in that mix.
The NFL Mock Draft Database lists Carter as its projected No. 2 pick to Cleveland on its consensus big board, Sanders as the No. 3 pick by the Giants and Hunter as the No. 4 pick to the Patriots.

That pecking order will get re-litigated in the aftermath of the Giants signing quarterback Russell Wilson; would New York still go quarterback at No. 3, or does Hunter now enter the picture? There's always the possibility of a trade, but suddenly the idea of Missouri offensive lineman Armand Membou or Michigan defensive tackle Mason Graham becomes a more intriguing fit in the top three, as well.
Here's what the latest mock drafts are saying on the choice of Ward at No. 1.
Chris Trapasso of CBS Sports: "The Titans' actions in free agency — or lack thereof at the quarterback position — hint they're going to draft Ward with the No. 1 pick."
Bucky Brooks of NFL.com: "The talented passer gives Brian Callahan the franchise quarterback needed to spark the Titans’ rebuild."
Ben Standig of The Athletic: "Outside of trading the top choice for a massive haul of picks, the Titans are executing the weirdest fakeout this offseason if they don’t select a quarterback. Evaluators don’t rank Ward at last year’s Caleb Williams-Jayden Daniels-Drake Maye level. Still, the combination of impressive size, arm strength and mobility makes the two-time college transfer the favorite for QB1. Most fascinating with Tennessee is whether another quarterback-needy team comes calling for a shot at developing Will Levis."
Daniel Flick of Sports Illustrated: "Tennessee’s quarterback depth chart consists of Will Levis and Brandon Allen. The Titans need an answer under center, and Ward is their best bet in this draft class. He’s strong-armed, creative, athletic and accurate—a strong foundation for a prospective franchise signal-caller. Trade or no trade, Ward is the favorite to go No. 1."
Nate Tice and Charles McDonald of Yahoo!: "The no-doubt QB1 of this draft class. Ward’s combination of calm demeanor and creativity makes him a fun watch, with a higher floor than you’d think. The Titans beefed up their offensive line and could nab another weapon later in the draft to pair with Calvin Ridley and create a fairly healthy ecosystem to drop Ward into."
Mike Tanenbaum of ESPN.com: "While I'm not ready to completely write off Will Levis as an NFL starter, I think there's a clear separation in talent between him and Ward. This is an easy decision for Tennessee. And the team signing tackle Dan Moore Jr. and guard Kevin Zeitler — moves that allow JC Latham to kick over to right tackle — leads me to believe that it's heading in this direction.
"Ward has a sturdy frame (especially in his lower body) at 219 pounds, and he displays outstanding pocket movement. I like how his eye level stays down the field as he moves around and avoids pressure. Last season, Ward led the country in TD passes (39) and passing plays of 20 or more yards (74)."
