Which QB in this draft will be the next Tom Brady?

If not Rosen, I'll go with Mike White. Unless Cards come up with something QB wise before they are on the clock, they better take him with the 15th pick. He wont be there when we get all the way back around to 2.15. He will go near top of 2nd if someone doesnt move up to end of 1st to grab him.

We might be able to trade back to 24 or 25 and pick up the panthers or titans 2nd round pick, then grab White there. That might work as long as bills dont take him at 21/22.

In order to be the next Tom Brady you have to be a third day pick in the draft or UDFA. I think Nic Shimonek will fit the bill.

In terms of making the most out of the Patriots' style of a short to intermediate passing attack, I think Luke Falk may be the best in this QB class.

Thanks for that link it was a good read. My favorite part of the NFL draft is reading about all these young prospects I've never heard of. I bet a few teams will have this kid on the radar

I put quite a bit of weight in this quote, "This is the guy who Mike Mayock says has no weaknesses." I think Maylock is pretty good at dissecting players so I give his analysis a good deal of weight. I would be fine seeing the Cardinals select a player other than a QB with the 15th selection and then making a move up to get Lauletta late in the first before the Patriots can pick even if it means no second or third round pick.

It really depends on what the question really is. Will there ever be a 6th round nobody who goes to 8 Super Bowls? I'd bet against that and feel pretty confident.

Will there be other later round starters/stars at QB? Sure.

Mayock is my favorite draft "expert" but he's just as susceptible to mistakes and personal bias as many of them are. The reason I like him is the same reason I haven't kept track of his past picks. I'm just too lazy.

I just went back and read his analysis of QBs from 2014 through 2017 and he's damn accurate on how they would turn out. His descriptions of them are pretty much in line with what they have done to date. I think it's rather amazing how closely he described each of them and how each of them pretty much have turned out as he predicted with their weaknesses and his bottom line on them. If Maylock is saying Lauletta is a good QB, I would hope that the Cardinals would seriously look at getting him.

I don't think that is enough to get Minnesota's or Jacksonville's pick. Maybe if you added next years second, but they would probably start at asking for next years first.

If you have any links, I'd appreciate it. It seems like the last time I tried doing any history checking I couldn't find what I was looking for. I guess in a way, I didn't really want to find out that my opinion of Mayock wasn't as good as the reality. But, I do think he's the best of what's out there and hope his opinions are that good.

I guess my point is that even BB and the Patriots didn't think, "Hey, we just got the next mega-star HOF QB with our 6th round pick!" Rather, they would have thought something along the line of, 'with some time and good coaching this kid might become a serviceable pro QB, perhaps even a starter some day.'

Which I think is what you are also saying.

But attempting to pick out one individual who is expected; based upon current knowledge of his traits, abilities, character, and past performance; to be a late round pick, and then claim, "I think this guy is going to be a NFL HOF player!" And, on top of that, have all of that actually occur. . . Well, I just don't believe in crystal balls, or fortune tellers.
