I know...there is tons of ifs in this thread...but that is all we have at this stage of the season...

Assume for a moment we sign holliday. I would suspect he is not going to the chiefs (what exactly can they offer him). Unless someone with cap space like minnesota gets in the fray..or seattle makes him an offer..he will probably end up here. Would you rather have:

scenario #1:
starting dline: KVB, Robertson or Kennedy, Bryant, Holliday.
3rd and long dline: KVB, (robertson, kennedy or bryant), Holliday, Johnson

The above assumes we have holliday and he slides down to tackle on passing situations. I put robertson or kennedy - if suggs is gone - I think we end up with one of the these two if we stay in the #6 pick.

OR...scenario 2:

Starting dline: KVB, Tanner, Bryant, Holliday
3rd and long dline: Johnson, Bryant, Holliday(or KVB), Suggs.

scenario #2 assumes suggs is there with #6 pick. More Questions: if we sign holliday, would suggs be on the bench on 1st and 2nd down? Or are we thinking he can play linebacker? just questions...

I have been harping pass rush, pass rush..but now if we sign holliday - seems suggs is on the bench alot...unless we have other plans for him..

I am beginning to think I like scenario #1 better..it all depends on if dennis johnson becomes a decent pass rusher or not..

Having 2 horses in the middle (Robertson/kennedy and bryant) - how much better of a linebacker would mckinnon be?

On the other hand..a pass rush with johnson and suggs of off the ends and one end sliding down to tackle should be above average..FWIW..the cardinals love to rotate d lineman...last year it seemed we were switching the entire group every other play - but that was a function of lack of talent - especially late in the season when injuries were a factor..

Sugs is a BIG IF...

This team NEEDS DL help very bad so we HAVE to get Holliday in here!

Then if we DO get SUGGS We would have many options, for example:

KVB Tanner Bryant Holliday (on running situations)

KVB Holliday Bryant Suggs (on passing downs)

Now this is assuming that SUGGS isnt ready to be an effective run stopper "YET"...

So if SUGGS does turn out to be good VS the run also then we could put a starting line up of:

KVB HOLLIDAY BRYANT SUGGS

And that Lineup should bring the heat on the QB...

If SUGGS is gone and also Leftwich is gone, then I think we must go DT or WR...

If the Cards take Suggs at 6 and he ends up as a situational pass rusher then in my opinion the team has wasted the money on a #6 pick who can't contribute almost every down. For my money I want someone who can be on the field for more than one down of each series of 4 downs.

Is a situational pass rusher worth #6 money? I personally don't think so. There are a few other DEs out there who can record double digits in sacks and also play the run.
