Okobo is the clear cut loser in that scenario.

Lets say they get Morant. Who starts and who gets 86'd. Do you give up on either Melton or Okobo? Or do you keep 4 PG's to begin the season?
Tyler starts, and also backs up Booker. Morant gets lots of minutes off the bench initially but is starting by Christmas. Okobo is odd man out.

If Tyler starts at any position, we're screwed. And if Morant is forced to start by Christmas (which he would be considering what a disaster it would be to start Tyler at the point), we are even more screwed, as is Morant.

In previous posts I have talked about the Suns keeping up to four point guards but that may not be practical. However, I was including Tyler Johnson who can play point guard and shooting guard. In a trade, the Suns might need to include a point guard to obtain a point guard.

6 guards (combo, pg, shooting guard), 4 small forwards, 2 power forwards, 2 centers and 1 combo big man. Something like that works especially since there will already be some crossover between the 2 guard spots and the 2 forward spots. That last big man listed would ideally be able to play both spots but filling in at the 5 is obviously a must.

Most likely the Suns have to trade a point guard but I agree with your assessment. As previously mentioned, I would really like to add a player like Thomas Bryant to the roster and keep Holmes. It's probably wishful thinking on my part.

Too guard and wing heavy. Need at least 1, if not 2, more spots allocated to big men, unless you want to go back to the proven failure that is small ball.

Suns are not going to the playoffs next year. Not sure how they can be screwed giving Ja playing time. Morant seems like a player that will respond to the challenge.

But the Suns should be BUILDING toward a playoff team.

Throwing any college Point Guard into team leadership on
the court too soon is not BUILDING toward a playoff team.

With all due respect, your saying the Suns are not GOING to
the playoffs next year shouldn't make it another wasted year.

That's what they said about Chriss and Bender three years ago, Josh Jackson two years ago and Okobo and Melton last year...

Who's they, I hated all those picks except Okobo

The vast majority of Suns fans.

A key to developing a winning team is developing and teaching the players at the appropriate pace, not gifting them playing time they don't yet deserve and throwing them right into the fire.

The NBA is a different universe from the Ohio Valley Conference.
