I wasn't impressed with Huff and I can see the Cards drafting a LB like Hawk to replace him.
I concur. But I'm not sure Huff's problem is "incurable."

There were times when he came up with a huge play or ferocious hit (demonstrating that he has the talent to get the job done).

But there were more times when he'd whiff on the tackle or drop the interception.

Orlando certainly has enough redeeming features for Cardinal staff to coach some of the inconsistency out of him.

But we're getting good enough and deep enough at most positions to make it worthwhile to bring in younger guys who can push our starters or for "insurance" should the opportunity present itself.

The interesting controversy figures to be: Hawk vs. say Ferguson or McNeal. We need offensive line help more than we do at LB. Then again you have to pull out the old crystal ball and ask: "Which guy will have a bigger impact on helping the team win more games - The guy who might transform our offensive line or a playmaking Urlacher type at LB?

Huff really lacked discipline but you could say that for the entire defense this past season. The 15 yard penalty he took in Seattle was inexcusable. I was expecting him to be a bigger force in improving the run defense but he didn't do much in that area, or any other for that matter.

I have heard that the physical ability is there, but has real trouble grasping the scheme.

Are you talking about McCown or Blackstock or both?
