TAMPA, Fla. — South Carolina women's basketball is playing in its second consecutive national championship and it's a rematch from 2022.
The No. 1 Gamecocks (35-3) beat No. 1 Texas 74-57 in the Final Four on Friday in Amalie Arena and now face No. 2 UConn on Sunday (3 p.m., ABC). South Carolina beat the Huskies in the title game two three years ago but lost to them on Feb. 16.
Coach Dawn Staley is playing for her fourth title with the program and is up against the all-time leader in national championships, Geno Auriemma, who has 11.
South Carolina plays No. 1 seed UConn on Sunday, a rematch from when Dawn Staley won her second national title in 2022. The Huskies (36-3) beat the Gamecocks 87-59 on Feb. 16 in Colonial Life Arena.
South Carolina will play in the national title game on Sunday at 3 p.m. in Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida.
