Gortat...and then Dragic...they are by far the leaders of the pack. I will say all of the role players, though, are doing their parts nicely...just a tad inconsistent right now.

I'm going to go with Dragic, but it is close between him and Gortat.

Elindholm would probably vote tucker over dragic since he trusts tucker going for a layup more so than dragic

Dragic and Gortat are tied. Either would be a really nice role player on any team.

Strongly disagree. Either one would be a solid starter for any team, even a championship team. I don't know how much success you can have with them as your top two players but they are good enough to be the 2nd or 3rd best player on a playoff team. Put a superstar out there and this team is a threat to make the playoffs and advance a round or two.

LeBron is a freak. I believe he could turn any team into the league into a title contender. He had Cleveland in the hunt for years and when he left it turned out his supporting cast was the worst team in basketball.

Back on topic... Dragic and Gortat have both been very good, but I will give the edge to Gortat. Not only has not seen a slip from his Nash stats, but his defense has dramatically improved.

I couldnt decide between Dragic and Gortat either. I think Gortat is a top 3 NBA center the way he is playing. dragic is a top 10 PG IMO.

Shannon brown also deserves a lot of credit and Scola is a consistent 15 and 8 every night.

Gortat. Although he needs to keep up this level of play. 10 points wont cut it.

Was extremely impressed by Dragic last night. I liked how in the post game last night he referred to his team as "My players". Taking ownership. Thats great.

Been impressed/annoyed by Shannon Brown. If he gets the ball, theres a 90% chance he'll try to score, no matter how difficult the shot will be.

Beasley has been worthless. He was brought in here to be our anchor. 25 ppg.

You know i was realy thinking about my vote. And after all i have two favorites - it's Gortat and Dragic
After 6 games is quite hard to choose between this two guys but i decided give my vote to Gortat. He shows that he can still play in decent level in offence without Nash (14.5 points per game) and lets be honest Gortat is a beast in def. especially with this 4.3 block shots - IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE

I don't think that word means what you think it means.

I give the slight edge to Dragic but Gortat has played well considering he no longer has Nash. At this point it appears Dragic is a better player than NAsh. Very impressed with his intensity. So glad they got him back

Isn't that a role player?

OK. What kind of superstar? I do not think a C or PF would be the answer. If you add one of those, either Gortat or Scola takes the bench. Also, a superstar pg would not be the answer either. Dragic is really a great addition there.

So, it would be a superstar at the 2 or 3. Dwayne Wade, Kevin Durant, LeBron, Kobe, types.

Who is the one player we should be targeting, either in the draft, trade, or FA that will put this team up there? There is no point in continuing to get starters, we now need the big player.

No, a role player is a player that comes in and fills a role. Typically they come off the bench or are specialized starters. When I think of former championship type teams role players would have been: Vinnie Johnson, John Salley, Steve Kerr, Bruce Bowen, etc.

The ultimate role player for a championship team in the league is probably typified by Shane Battier.

Agreed. The long shot hope is that Beasley will grow into that player. He's shown flashes in the past couple games although there's obviously a lot of areas he needs to improve in. I doubt be ever gets consistent enough to be the main man but it might be enough if we could pair him with a star level athletic power forward. The kind of big man that could guard up and down so that Beasley could get some time at both the 3 and the 4 spots.

It's certainly not how I'm used to hearing "role player" defined. Every player has to play a role so I guess you could call them all role players but typically you're saying they aren't good enough to build around. And they usually aren't good enough to start for the better teams. I think Gortat and Dragic could start for any team in the league without hurting that team's chances and in many cases, they'd be an improvement.

Dragic is the Suns most consistent player and he also has to run the offense.

The difference between good players (sometimes even not-so-good) and great players is the ability to play at a high level consistently, night after night.

Beasley is a 1 out of 3 or 4 player right now. He has a good game 1 out of every 3 or 4 or so outings. I and doubtul we will get more than that. He has been just that and no more so far in his career. Its a tease.

I would love to be proven wrong.

You're probably right, history is on your side. BUT, I figure what do we have to lose? If he becomes a superstar, we're just one star away from being a true contender (and we might even have that star on our roster already). If he improves but doesn't quite reach his potential, he has some trade value and if he fails completely, we move on without him and hope we get lucky with our picks.
