Who in the double h hockey stick let Darwin Walker go?

I'm sittin (well actually laying) here watchin NFL pre-games and here comes the Eagles 2 best D player....Dawkins and Walker....talking to Deion and the boys about the playoffs.

Like we didn't need D lineman....but we cut him loose.....whoever is in charge of judging talent on our team really sucks.

He seemed more like a scheme mismatch. We played two gap, read and react on the D line and drafted a one gap penetrator type in Walker. Good call on the talent, just didn't make sense for what we were doing. That's my read on it.

Yeah, that wasn't a good move. Proof positive the Joe Greene leave a lot to be desired when it comes to coaching.

Well, to rehash this once again,

Walker was a DE in college, he was learning a new position. Issa and Tosi clearly outplayed him in camp and preseason that year. It's a perpetual problem for this team, year in and year out, that we need immediate production from our picks if we can get it. Therefore, we cut Walker, hoping to sign him to the practice squad. Philly picks him up for their practice squad instead. He then gets two years to round into form, something he never would've gotten here. Look at how we've played Pace this season.

Can't buy that.

Talent is talent.

If he played DE in colleg then why did they draft him as a DT.?

If they thought he was a decent DE why didn't they try him there?

Teams that suck shouldn't draft projects....if they do then give them a freakin chance.

That's what happened. Not trying to get you to "buy" anything.

His release, when it happened, was criticized as crappy drafting by the Cardinals. No one was saying, "We shoulda kept the guy to develop him." Not even you Buckeye. That didn't happen until two years later when he started to rip it up with Philly.

So true... and in fact they did try him at DE... he was simply too slow.

And, I might add - the Walker decision - and most recently, Fatafehi - can't simply be laid a Joe Greene's foot locker. He's asked to Coach and evaluate players based on the scheme set-out by Def.Coordinator and approved by the Head Coach.

If they want read and react D-lineman; then that's what he gives them...

Like Section said a scheme mismatch.

And who puts forth sucky schemes....or puts people where they don't belong?

I have heard Walker say that he had a crappy attitude when he was with the Cardinals. He said being cut was the wake-up call that made him change his perspective and work harder.

I hope Bryant gets his wake-up call this offseason.

This guy is just one of many that McGinnis decided on too early and squandered their talent. You can add Chavous to that list. Poole almost ended up being wasted the same way, but since McCown was comfortable with him from his second team work he got a chance. I think it's safe to say he has out-played all of the receivers except Boldin, since his return.

Of all his faults, stubborness was McGinnis' biggest liability with the possible exception of blind loyalty.

Sorry missed that.

Us college kids play too much X-box and don't read as much as you old guys.
