Who is on Your List of Seven?

With the Nth pick, for reasonably small N, it can be useful to come up with a list of exactly N draft prospects, where every prospect on the list is either a dead lock to be drafted in the first N-1 picks, or somebody you would like to draft at N. Then you’re guaranteed that at least one of the guys on your list will still be on the board for your pick.

So, who is on your List of Seven?

Right now, my list is Deng, Gordon, Harris, Howard, Iguodala, Livingston, and Okafor.

Josh Smith and (I know I’m going to catch hell for this one) Pavel Podkolzine are also considerations.

Another interesting idea is, of the prospects on your list that are not locks to be drafted ahead of you, who is the one you like the least? This is the worst-case scenario.

Gordon, Harris, Iguodala, Josh Smith or Shaun Livingston that is who I want.

OK. Add Okafor and Howard—who, I presume you would agree, are top-six locks—and you have a list of seven.

Of the five you list, which is your least favorite?

Can't say. I could get excited about any of them. Unfortunately we will only be able to chose between 2 of them since only Deng is likely to be drafted in the top7 as well.

My order of preference:

1.) Childress
2.) Iguodola
3.) Harris

I like Nelson and Gordon as PG's, but I'm confident PHX is OK there. Good reports on Barbosa. Vujanic can be had. And, Nash is lurking.

Well you can cross Iguodala off of the list I guess.

We didn't work him out as far as I know. And I don't think any team later worked him out either.

He worked out for Charlotte, twice the Bulls and the Wizards. Maybe Hawks but I am not so sure.

Looks like Deng and Iguodala will likely go 3 and 4.

Btw, put Josh Smith on top of my list. I just can't pass up on someone 6'8+ with a nearly 40" vertical leap.

Maybe I was too fast on Iguodala. I got this response from one of the drafcity guys.

He (more like his agent) has been very secretive about his workouts but I know he's been to Atlanta, Phoenix and Toronto and maybe some other places.

Cap did you see the video clips I posted on Josh Smith before? If you already like Josh but haven't seen them I think you would quickly put him on top of your list or near it.

I really try not to get overly excited about video clips of prospects. Last year I saw video clip of Lampe and was convinced that his athleticism was about the caliber of Jake Tsakalidis. By no means do I think he is a highflyer now, but he clearly moves better than Big Jake.

That said, I saw about two minutes of Josh Smith clips on NBA TV earlier today, and I couldn't help but get a little excited about him. His athleticism and body are incredible. No, I'm not gay... not that there's anything wrong with that. :)

He measured in at a little over 6'8 and just short of a 40" vertical.

In one of the clips he does a windmill dunk over a basketball rack from just a step within the freethrow line.

In that prospect-mix I posted earlier he blocks someone's layup in the stands trailing the other guy on a fastbreak. A little like Prince's block against Reggie Miller in the playoffs.

He is definately a highflyer.

And in another post

6,7,8 he has worked out for. His agent (kobe's agent too) is very secretive and would rather team sites not post where he has been so far.

No idea if Iggy having the same agent as Kobe means something.

It means Iguodala would know how to get dates in Colorado?

No but Kobe's agent was quoted in the republic a few weeks ago talking about his clients Jahidi White and Vujanic too and had some very nice stuff to say about Phoenix.

Agents probably like to gather some of their clients on the same teams too.

But if I'm Kobe's agent, I would prefer to have him resign with the Lakers. Afterall, if Kobe makes more, so would I.

Okafor, Howard, Iguodala, Gordon, Harris, Josh Smith are my top rated

Synder or L Jackson at #7 - Livingston if PG, Biedrins for bigman
Childress and Deng wouldn't be that bad of selections
Pavel for true Center

Synder is 1 player that impressed in the few games I saw but every single game I have is ruined 1 way or another (taped late, taped only first half, taped for only 10 mins in 2nd, taped for first 10 mins etc) but I would compare him to Michael Finley...

I only have four, but I'm assuming that Okafor, Howard and Deng will be gone:

1. Shaun Livingston
2. Josh Smith
3. Andre Iguodala
4. Ben Gordon

I'm pretty sure that Livingston and Gordon will both be gone; with luck, Smith and Iguodala will both fall to the Suns, so they can pick their favorite.
