Ta'Niya Latson and No. 6 Florida State are on a mission to become a household name in the NCAA women's tournament, especially in an exciting secound-round matchup against No. 3 LSU on Monday.
Latson, the nation's leading scorer, didn't disappoint in the first half, posting 23 of FSU's 49 points on 8-of-15 shooting. LSU led 50-49 at the half.

Latson is 20 years old. This is her third season at Florida State.
Latson is not eligible for this year’s WNBA draft because the league requires domestic draft entrants to be at least 22 years old during the year in which the draft takes place and to have no remaining college eligibility or to renounce any future college eligibility. Under the current rules, she’ll be eligible in 2026.
Latson is listed on the Florida State roster at 5-foot-8.
The junior has started in all her 28 games, averaging 25 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game. Latson is shooting 45.3% from the floor and 35.7% (35-for-98) from beyond the arc.
This is Latson's second NCAA Tournament. She made her debut last season in an 82-74 first-round loss to Alabama. She posted 25 points.
A Miami native, Latson was the 2022 Florida Dairy Farmers Miss Basketball while at American Heritage High School. She was also the 2022 Florida Class 5A Player of the Year and averaged 27.2 points, 7 assists, 8 rebounds, 5.3 steals and 2 blocks per game as a senior.
Kitts was ranked as the No. 14 player nationally in the 2022 recruiting class by ESPN.
