So far the draft class has been every bit as awful as it was billed to be. Oladipo looks good, MCW is the big surprise, Adams has been solid but I think he stands out mostly because the rest have done so little.

I think Oladipo looks like he was expected to look. If this had been a typical draft he would have been picked around 10th and everyone would be thrilled with the guy. As the second pick overall though there have been grumblings about his shortcomings. He's a fairly high turnover guy and his shooting is slightly below average, as advertised. But his energy gives him such a huge presence on both ends of the court.

As for MCW, if the league decides to wake up and start calling his dribble a carry, which it is, his game will come back down to earth a bit. He's a talent but you can't let a guy carry the ball on every drive, it gives him far too much of an advantage. I haven't watched much of Utah but what little I saw of Burke was pretty impressive. I loved him in college but I would have probably passed on him (with our pick) because it's so much of a risk taking an undersized point guard that high in the draft. At the nine spot, it's not as much of a risk and he seems to be paying off there.

I never understood what anyone saw in Porter. A SF...with very little athleticism and no handles? There was zero upside to his game, IMO.

Yeah but to me he was already a slightly improved version of Calbert Cheaney, he did just about everything pretty well. I never expected stardom for Porter but I did think he was the player most ready to help a contending team. I wouldn't say he has little athleticism and no handles either. IMO, he was at least average in both even by NBA standards.

I think it's going to be hard for him to impress anyone this year though as it's hard enough for a healthy rookie to shine his first year. It's almost unheard of a rookie to miss the early part of the season and make much of an impact. I still think a dozen years from now he'll be out front in the argument for best player from this class unless one of the longshot superstars comes through (Nerlens, Bennett, Goodwin for example).
