Sporting News describes Hodel as a player that's good enough to start for any team in this league....

I think all of our underproducing 1st rounders need to step up this year - Wendell Bryant, Bryant Johnson, Calvin Pace & BIG.

Can't name just one. Johnson came to mind first (I think he'll sterp it up this year for sure), but gotta agree about Starks, too. And Davis. Those are my top three

Hodel

Ryanwb you seem to be implying that Hodel does not earn his "huge pay check".

Bach referenced the Sporting News player rankings. They had 3 rankings...the highest of which was "Can Play for any Team". Only 10 of the 32 LS recieved this ranking...that puts him in their top one third. Dallas Morning New has him ranked at 8th.

Hodel was 8th among all LS this year in tackles for all 38 LS that played this year.

His first and most important job is to throw the ball threw his legs to the Punter or holder while standing on his head with some 250 to 300 pound guy who's waitng to take it off when he raises it up after the snap. He had No snaps bounce back to the punter or holder or go over there heads. He has one of the fastest snap times for punts and extra points in the league and he throws bullets not rainbows.

On punts you will notice that the defense dedicates a blocker on him to keep him from gettng up field for punt return coverage................less than half of the LS in the league or given that honor. Apparently the opposing team coaches have some respect for his abilities after the snap.

Hodel had a 3rd degree shoulder seperation the 2nd to last play of the preseason..............The Arizona Republic reported that he was going to miss the first 5 to 6 games of the season and possible would be lost for the season. He was asked how much pain can you play with and did not miss a play or a snap all season.

Does not seem that he could have done much more for the league minimum he was paid.

I would love to see Josh McCown blossom into a star. And I would love to see Wedell Bryant become the force that his talent seems to indicate he could become.
