Bradford is a master at setting up big paydays so IMO, he knows that he is on a one year audition and will prepare and play accordingly. I'm not sure which teams will be looking for a QB next year(NYG & DEN?) but that is what Bradford is playing for and when healthy, he is going to be tough to outperform. Rosen is the future but I think Bradford is the now. He'll start the season and play as long as the Cardinals have a shot at the playoffs(and he stays healthy).

Bradford will start. The Cards have a new OL and who knows how long it will take for them to mesh. No need throwing the QBOTF out there right away and getting him killed.

If Rosen is the starter at the beginning of the season then Keim needs to be fired for wasting $20 million on Bradford when that money would have been better spent elsewhere. Yes I know when Bradford was signed, no one thought we would have been able to nab Rosen but if there was even an inkling, then throwing $20 million on Bradford would be the epitome of stupidity.

Yup! Fire Keim for not being a Time Traveler.

My first reaction when they signed Bradford was that the Cards had the outside hope that he would become the starter for the next 5-to-8 years. Something akin to lucking out with first Warner and then Palmer. Bradford is only 30, former #1 overall pick, former Offensive Rookie of the Year. Because of injuries, he has low mileage in terms of hits for a whole season (what a strange plus for a guy).

I wonder if the Rosen signing is an indication that Bradford's knee is more serious that first thought? Vikes labeled his knee as 'degenerative' That would explain the move to select Rosen even considering the low cost in trade value. Also, a trade for another QB in Rosen with previous shoulder surgery and lost time due to concussions.

So, should SW name Bradford the starter NOW and ease the tension in the QB room??? You know all three guys want to be the starter---which is exactly the way it should be. Bradford and Glennon are fighting for their professional careers and chance to be a starter with Rosen cocky enough to want to claim the job.

OR do you announce that the QB position is open for whoever shows the best stuff in pre-season? Then stand back and let the dogfight begin. Best dog gets the biggest bone regardless of vet status, draft status, paycheck.

cards didnt pay bradford 20 mil to be the 2nd string. rosen shouldn't start a single game season 1, let him get his mind right with the playbook and his body right in the weight room. when you make a long term investment you groom it, not rush it.

Exactly what should happen.

Best body in camp. I don't think you need to rush Rosen.

I doubt it plays out that way. Bradford is the starter no matter what happens, unless injured. The only way Rosen sees the field this year is if Bradford stinks to high heaven or gets injured. They would be stupid to rush Rosen out there.

Somebody else who needs his hand held. My point was, if there plan all along was to get a QBOTF and possibly someone who could start right away then signing Bradford to a ridiculous contract was galactically stupid but if Rosen falling into our lap wasn't expected and they expected a QB that needs some seasoning(Jackson) then all is good. My post was abundantly clear on that but again, people like you glean what you want instead of actually reading it.

Yes, because we totally planned for the Niners to tab the Raiders guy the pick before them, and LA panicking and trading down for far less than market value.

I was with you right up until you said "Glennon", because no. Just no. If Glennon steps in instead of Rosen...grr.
Similar to the BA regime, I figure Glennon's basically going to be our Stanton. The guy who is active week to week while the rookie sits and learns.

Who makes the call on which QB starts?

SW? SK? MB?

Who has 'final say' or is it a consensus decision?

Should be the coaches call. I haven't seen anything that suggests that either MB or SK interfere with what happens on the field.

I don't think Rosen being drafted is any kind of an indicator of new info about Bradford's knee. I think the Cardinals signing Bradford was a prudent move to insure they had a QB this year and perhaps moving forward.

They had no way to know how the draft was going to play out so they couldn't just sit there without a QB until after the draft but I'm sure that Bradford was at best, only penciled in as the "future".

As far as how they should now approach the QB situation, my belief is generally to name a starter and actually commit to him. Division at the QB position rarely nets a positive result IMO. I'd put Bradford as "the" starter and do everything possible to make him successful. There is no downside to Bradford having a good year. If he puts up good numbers and leads the team to wins and hopefully the playoffs, Rosen sitting isn't a bad thing.

No team in their right mind signs Bradford at this point for any purpose other than to be a bridge. If the Cardinals thought for even a moment this oft-injured journeyman was the ticket for the next 5-8 years they should all be summarily fired on the spot.

I don't believe that to be the case.

I agree with Guernsey. Signing Bradford was a solid move. The Cardinals had no way of knowing for sure if they were going to get their QBOTF. From all reports, the Cardinals did NOT want to part with future 1st round picks to get their guy. Theoretically, they could have been in a position where all of the top guys were gone. And then the Cardinals would be stuck with who at QB?

I think Bradford (barring injury) goes into the year as the starter. If he stays healthy, then the team moves on after this upcoming season. I think the team would probably go to Glennon first if Bradford is hurt and then after a few games of ineffectiveness, the team moves to Rosen.

Read it and understood.

No need for your addendum and my earlier post stands.

I agree with that when BA was here. Separation of authority with SK final say on the draft (MB veto power?) and BA for the on-field decisions.

SK got his BPA in the draft and BA red-shirted him for a year.

Agree. Having Bradford and Glennon signed meant that the Cards did not have to force the issue with a high-round draft pick.

A team with a solid shot at the playoffs would take the chance with Bradford if their QB went down. That's what the Vikes did when TB went down and traded with the Eagles for Bradford.

Who would have guessed that either Warner or Palmer would turn out to be our QB for a couple of solid years?
