I think Kasper has shown to be more productive throughout the preseason, on special teams, and during games last year than Foster. I am curious why Foster would be a starter. The only reasons I could think of is because he is "Sully's Guy" and because he supposedly runs crip routes. Kasper I think has better measurables and he seems to have no problem getting open and catching the ball. I think he should be the starter in place of Foster. What do you guys think?

Sorry if this post seems too similar to another one I posted before but I think this one is a little more direct and I want your guys opinions! Tell me why you think a certain way too because I don't really understand the Cardinals logic on this one!

SCF:

I'd like to start Kasper because he's faster than Foster, and offers a game-breaking element that Foster doesn't. I'd still use Gilmore on the deep routes, but Kasper has the speed to turn short-to-medium catches into longer gains. I haven't seen that from Foster.

That said, there's no way Kasper starts ahead of Foster. Right-or-wrong, I think Sullivan's more confident of Foster's ability to run plays/ routes the way they're drawn up and make the proper reads and adjustments based on coverages. Kasper will start at KR, and come in on some 3WR sets. That's fine, for now.

Y'know, I still think Kasper has some upside. This is only his third year, and his first camp/ preseason with the Cards. At Denver, he was stuck behind two Pro Bowlers and a first-rounder. Seattle only picked him up as a short-term replacement because Darrell Jackson was hurt. If he keeps working hard, and pays attention to his coaches, I think Kasper could be a keeper.

I guess common sense tells you it should be Kasper the Friendly Ghost. Get foster out there for a game or two, as blakes primary target and I might change my mind.

Kasper just seems to be a guy that everybody notices and pays attention to. Even blake.

I actually don't care who starts against Detroit, what matters is who gets the most throws. Starting wide recievers, especially on this team, don't necessarily equate to most plays or most throws/catches. I think Kasper will end up proving he is a very reliable reciever, better than Foster.

good post WC, I concur completely.

Sullivan seems to be a stickler for precision. Kasper may still be a little too undisciplined for Sully's liking, in his route running, but I agree he may have more possible upside.

I too, think he will see plenty of action, I just doubt he will start.
I don't think Sully is close-minded, he just knows what he wants and if you don't give it to him....sin loy (as the Vietnamese used to say).

I have to admit that Stoops seems to have Mack Brown in a death grip of collossal proportions. That being said, I think we will stomp the Crimson Criminals to our North. :D Chance Mock has looked good, and is alot more mobile than Simms was, we know how those mobile QBs give guys fits. Plus you lost Griffin which was by far the biggest problem we have had the last three times out against you. Should be another fantastic game, only this year I'm hoping for a more suitable outcome for the Burnt Orange.

I agree hookem, that the 2003 version of red river rivalry will be a battle of epic porportions. I think its going to be a game that people will remember for a long time. Like the time UT and OU came in ranked one and two (was it 76' or 68? something like that)

I see both teams coming into that game undefeated and ranked in the top five.

The hype meter is going to go off the scale. hide the women and children, no holds barred. mac, chance and roy, trying to lock up a chance at a national title when they roll into dallas. stoops jason and teddy sending them back home to austin with their tail between their legs!

good luck until then hookem!

GO BIG RED!

Let me start with Kasper,Kasper and Kasper. Foster who? I can't see how Foster would start over anyone of the Cards receivers. Boldin,Johnson and Kasper should start.

What?
I think the starter will be determined by the game plan.

If we plan on running and picking them apart with short dump offs and hitch routes then Foster will probably start.

If we plan on airing it out on the first series Kasper will get the nod because of speed.

Depends on what they come up with after watching the films of Detroit as to what they think they can do most effectively.

Kasper is most effective when used as a possesion receiver. I think tha main reason why he didn't click here in Denver is beause they tried to use him to stretch the field. Yes, he's fast, but being a deep threat is not his strength. I think he has trouble adjusting to deep balls.

Kasper for sure-

The moment I first saw him last year at SDS I said, Who the hell is that? He absolutely lit up the place with his energy. I knew then that we had something special. He is fast, can catch and (hold on to the ball!) I can still close my eyes and see him on that reverse, he's got my vote! I love his bleached hair too.

The question is the wrong question. It should be "Who should start? Foster or Boldin?"

Kasper will get lots of chances but Anquan Boldin is the guy the Cards want to feature.

In Anna I trust
Obviously, I am a big Kasper Fan and a Cards fan by association. I love rooting for the underdog(cards and kasper)! I don't care whether he starts or not as long as they give him a chance to play. I feel the if he is given this chance he will do nothing but shine and by the end ogf the season he will work his way up to be one of the two main recievers....

I think that Boldin is best used out of the slot instead of as a flanker. My guess is that he can do more against nickel backs and LBs than he'll be able to do split out wide. I wonder if they'll move him in on three WR sets.

For what it's worth, I think that the breakdown might change a little through the season, but I'll do it by quarters...

Weeks 1-4

Split end: Bryan Gilmore
Flanker: Larry Foster
Slot: A. Boldin

Weeks 5-8

Split end: Bryan Gilmore
Flanker (2 WR set): A. Boldin
Flanker (3 WR set): Jason McAddley
Slot: A. Boldin

Weeks 9-12

Split end: Bryan Gilmore
Flanker (2 WR set): A. Boldin
Flanker (3 WR set): B. Johnson
Slot: A. Boldin

Weeks 13-17

Split End: B. Johnson
Flanker: A. Boldin
Slot: B. Gilmore

I think that Gilmore should end up as a Az-Hakim Slot guy. Sully's going to find ways to get Anquan on the field, but I think it won't be until after the first quarter of the season that he's going to be a solid starter, and he'll still move inside on 3 WR sets. He might end up doing it for his career, or at least until his speed comes all the way back, if it ever does.
