The guy hasn't been great, not even good. There's been some shaky moments for sure. Especially against Chandler Jones.

But that said, from what we were seeing in the preseason, and from what we probably expected, he's doing a lot better than I thought. He hasn't yet been a problem killing our team.

I think while he's getting beat it's not always as quickly as it had been and Kolb has been doing a better job of getting the ball out and/or feeling the pressure. That plus our shorter reads help too. Combine all that up with his slightly improved play I think overall has made the position serviceable so far.

Still early, not sold. But the guy has done just well enough, which if he continues like he has for the rest of the season, should make us ecstatic.

If anyone should be on that list Massie should be. While being at the less tested RT position, he's done remarkably well.

Overall I'd say our tackles are exceeding my expectations.
While I am more impressed with Massie as well. I DO believe Batiste has done pretty well at LT. No false starts, and he's not getting torched as Kolb finishes his drop-back. Kolb is healthy and getting enough time to make plays, we've got room to improve running the ball still, but I think the line, including Batiste, is off to a great start

Ill reserve judgement on Batiste till after the Miami games when we have real refs.

Possible that he got away with a little bit with the replacements.

But overall, MUUUUUCH better than expected. Thought the season was over when I heard hed be our starter. Hes done a good job.

I hope the FO doesnt think this solves the LT problem. In the 2013 draft, we need at least a 2nd rounder LT.

I had confidence in Batiste and Massie based on the pre-season and glad to see it is holding up... they are going to get better as season progresses. Hey, we may have found our LT and RT of the future and can have a solid backup in Levi Brown ;).

Why not if he continues to play at this level? He is only going to get better with more experience. So far the three defenses we faced were not walk in the park.

If the BPA in the second round is a tackle... fine.

If its a big enough need, you can take per need in the 2nd.

1st round is BPA always.

But what if the BPA in the 1st was an OLB, and we take him. And the BPA in the 2nd round is a OLB...

Gotta be smart with it. Its OK to pick via need in the 2nd if its there.

Batiste is getting better, but he is clearly the weak spot on the line right now. The only guy we have to replace him is Potter who is not ready or moving Colledge out to LT. I am still shocked that we didn't bring in a LT and just let Batiste start. I am hoping that he gets better as the year goes on, but so far he looks at best a backup for the near future. I just hope that we spend next years number one draft pick on a LT and move Levi to RG.

He's been better than expected but we are changing things to help him, keeping a TE in, chipping with the RB, get the ball out quicker etc.

I am very curious to see what happens with the real refs, I counted 4 uncalled holds on Batiste in the first half alone against Philly. It was like how Georgetown under John Thompson senior used to foul constantly figuring the refs wouldn't possibly call them all. Batiste seemed to have the philosophy if I'm getting beat, hold, and hope they don't call it and they haven't been calling it much.

I suspect the real refs will call it much more if he continues to do that but we'll see.

I think Massie has had a much bigger role in Kolb's improvement. I think Kolb is now pretty confident he's not going to get hit repeatedly from his right so he's more comfortable.

the market wasn't exactly overflowing with talent. I mean, we DID re-sign Levi, after letting him test the market, afterall

Batiste has been adequate. Let's not get ahead of ourselves here.

The past two games Batiste has been letting his man get precariously close to the QB, but to his credit he plays hard and seems to not give up on plays.

He's a decent swing backup, but we should look to continue bolstering the offensive line.

first point: "get close" is a significant improvement over "kill our quarterback"

last point: ABSOLUTELY, we should continue to look to bolster the line. But this is the first time in a while I've actually seen real improvement. And it's because 2 starters got hurt of all reasons lol

Sure. He's a significant upgrade over DJ Young. But, his man is disrupting our offense way too often. As many have said, I want to see how he performs with the regular refs out there.

we'll find out soon enough. I'm optimistic though. This team has finally earned some leeway before I start panicking and calling for people's heads
