Well, I haven't seen it on TV (and was too far away at the game), so I have no idea if this is even possible or not, but could Warner have dropped it on purpose? I mean, if he was getting sacked--he KNOWS it's a safety & game over. If he drops it, then there's at least a CHANCE a Card picks it up and we breathe to see another play.

Just askin'. There's a tiny, itty bitty drop of Kool-Aid in my cup.

Doubt it.. Warner was looking down field and checking his reads when he got nailed.. Doubt he even knew how close they were to getting him.. Add that with Kurts tendency to fumble all the time when hit, and I see no chance in this theory..

I still remember the days of Jim Hart, Mel Gray, Terry Metcalf, Jim Bakken, Conrad Dobler, Roger Werhli Jackie Smith, etc.....just haven't been able to let go. Can't bring myself to root for another team. Wish I could. The last five years have been especially painfull for me. Can't bring myself to hate them and turn on them for the losers they are. Always hoping each year it will be different.
I'm pretty worn out right now on coaching changes, Graves, drafting, Bidwills, losing, et al. Not sure I can muster much interest for the rest of the year, but come draft time, I'll prolly be there again

No chance in hell he dropped it on purpose. He didn't see the rush coming and the ball came out when right when he was hit.

To answer the original question, I am a fan because I am loyal. I've been a fan since I moved to AZ and they are really the only team I care about. Their losses really hurt me, but their wins make me incredibly happy. I can't say that about any other team and I can't just start cheering for another team just because they are successful.

What do you expect me to do? Start rooting for the Pats?

That isn't what i saw. The defender wrapped his arms around Warner who had turned to his left and I'm thinking safety and then the ball came out.

But like I said I haven't seen it frame by frame yet so I might be wrong.

The weird thing is that it didn't seem to happen real fast. It was such a horrible ending that it was in some kind of surreal slow motion for me.

My 8 year old is home with me today, and she turned Sports Center on for me (without me asking her to--weird). I just saw it again--I'm in agreement that there's no way he did it on purpose, sadly.

That's too bad. It was a great theory. Now i wish he'd held on and we'd lost on a safety. Just would add more to Cardinal lore.

Of course now that I've heard that they're the first team to lose on a fumble recovered in the endzone in OT it probably is just the same.

We endure because we're fans. Anyone who would jump to another team based on results was never a real fan in the first place. Has this team done an awful lot of losing in its history? Yes! But the payoff when the winning comes is unbelievable.

Return with me to 1998. The season starts with a drubbing at the hands of the Dallas Cowboys followed by getting creamed by a mediocre Seattle Seahawks team. Wins against cellar dwellers Philadelphia and St. Louis get us to .500, and we're loving it. We hit a mediocre team again, Oakland, so we lose followed by managing a win against the other NFC cellar dweller, Chicago. Next we lose to the mediocre New York Giants and barely beat a bad Detroit team. At midseason, we're ecstatic about going 4-4 with the best team to lose to us being Detroit.

In the second half, we finally beat a team that will finish .500, the Redskins, but then lose (well, the officials helped here) a second time to the Cowboys. We again beat the Redskins but then lose to less than great Kansas City and New York Giants teams to drop below .500. After 13 games, the Cards are 6-7, and fans are pointing fingers again.

But the schedule was kind to Arizona. The Cards finished with three opponents (the last two at home) who were all sub-.500 teams, and they pulled out the victories to make the playoffs.

How much did we love that team?

How much will you love this team when they win the division with a 10-6 record? Join me, friends, for a fresh pitcher of Kool-Aid.

Think about it this way...it will be way more exciting than most championships because as Cards fans we have had such an interesting run. As a Suns fan, I am pretty confident I will see at least one championship in my lifetime, and most of us have the D-Backs. With as putrid as things have been, we better win one hell of a Super Bowl.

I was there, and like so many other times, I wasn't surprised at all that we lost the game. I will support these losers until the end, but you can see casual fans leaving the game and talking about giving up on the team. They said goodbye to the playoffs, and those famous words, "same old cardinals". What a terrible loss.

One problem I have as a long time fan is that I find it hard to enjoy a good Cardinal performance during the game. I keep waiting for something to go wrong.

For instance during the Chicago game last year instead of enjoying the 23-3 lead I was worried because 3 TDs could give the Bears 24 points.

I feel exactly the opposite about Texas when they play. No matter what the score I expect them to find some way to come back and win.

Stupid Cardinals.

Same here. I remember not really feeling too confident in the Carolina game years ago when we were up 30-7. I think I finally felt we would win when the 2 minute warning arrived.

The worst thing about this is that the weird heartbreaking losses have increased since the team moved into the new stadium. It's more likely the result of improving talent than the stadium though. Before, the bumbling would result in a 34-13 loss. Now it's 34-31.

Another killer loss for me was the 19-16 OT loss to Chicago in 1994. The Cards had rebounded to 5-6 after a slow start and were in direct competition with the Bears for a wildcard spot.

With the remaining schedule heavily in the Cards favor a win would have given them the tiebreaker with the Bears and put them in the drivers seat for the last playoff spot. The 19 points were the most the Cards allowed in the second half of the season.

Ditto. Plus, now they are the home team, like it or not. So I "root, root, root for the home team" win or lose. They frustrate the heck out of me but I will remain a Cards fan forever.

The Coryel years were awesome for me. The Cards had some good teams that didn't go to the playoffs that should due to the structure way back then. In today's NFL they would have made it.

I remember Larry Wilson playing and Jim (All) Hart is one of my favorite Cards of all time.

Miss those days watching the Cards with Dad. One of my last good memories with my Dad was watching a Cards game in 1991 shortly before he passed.
