The Suns welcomed rookie point guard Leandro Barbosa back today after returning from visiting his gravely ill father in Brazil.
“The guys are happy to see him,” said Head Coach Frank Johnson. “They certainly understand the situation that he’s going through. Very, very personal, tough situation. It’s a situation where he had to take care of some stuff at home, and say goodbye to his dad.”
Johnson expects Barbosa to get the first playing time of his career Wednesday night. “He looked very good (in practice Tuesday),” Johnson said. “He understands what we’re doing. The guy has gears that I can only dream about.”
