He is in Phoenix training. The rule applies to anyone who played for that school. He cannot practice until classes are over eventhough he is not enrolled.

Larry Fitz acknowledged that beanie wells is at his house chillin out next to the tv, it's in an azcentral article i believe. I'm sure he finished classes already, and will be getting his degree, but not too sure on the policies for OTA's in conjunction with degrees/graduation.

Considering i saw Beanie getting on a plane with his girlfriendhulk to go on vacation in mid May,i'll assume Wells hasn't been in school this quarter.He may be enrolled but he hasn't been attending. It's the NFL's rule that prohibits him from attending any NFL activities until the quarter has been completed. So, even if he dropped out, he'd be unable to attend any OTA's.

I'll try to be gentle:

In many families (especially among first-generation, blue collar and minority Americans), having a son or daughter earn a college degree is an important dream and often the central theme in their lives; often involving considerable sacrifice.

To them, having a son or daughter graduate with their class is the fulfillment of that dream and a very big deal (as it should be).

I don't know the ins and outs of the League policy on participating in OTA's before the date a player's class officially graduates, but I'd logically expect that Beanie's already earned the degree - and is just waiting for the diploma to be officially handed out anyway.

To many of us (whose primary concern is with the Cardinals and not the young man) it may seem cool and inconsequential for Beanie to simply forget the diploma he already earned and - gaming a technicality - "drop out" in order to show up earlier, get an earlier jump on practicing with his teammates & thereby further his "real career" (being the best running back he can be).

But let's not forget that the Not For Long league can be pretty unforgiving to guys whose careers are cut short because of injury, and it's kind of nice to have that college degree to fall back on & build upon during "life after football."

And, as I said earlier - there's family pride and dignity. There's that.

It's NFL rules which prevent a player whose school is still in session from practicing with the team...

Beanie "Graduated" in April with a degree in Football. He is going to work for a Fortune 32 football company. A firm that will probably pay him enough money as a bonus in one afternoon to live comfortably for the rest of his life if he's smart.

OSU is on the quarter system. That's why it's taking so long. They supposedly are switching over by 2012,i think.

easy there, can i ban a moderator . It's not like it's Bama,FSU, or Memphis. Jim Tressel recruits nothing but honorable, trustworthy young men. Just ask any OSU fan . It doesn't really matter what their character is, he'll mold them into high quality individuals .

If there were ever a player who wouldn't suffer from this situation it would be a runningback healing from a nagging injury.

The runningback position is widely regarded as the easiest transition to make between NCAA and NFL and it certainly wouldn't hurt to have Beanie not putting his foot to the NFL test every single day this summer. Learn the plays and work on pass-blocking with a top-flight trainer. Then join the team for training camp.

If Wells were a DE/OLB hybrid like Vernon Gholston then I would say his year would be almost shot. But he is a runningback who will be doing largely the same job he has since high school.

If Beanie is not ready come week 1, its because he doesn't have it, not because of this ridiculous rule

They can never take away a college degree that was earned. So no matter what money is worth, if you are alive you can earn a living using that degree to make whatever is the going rate such a person employed with such a degree makes.

I won't try to get preachy, but if you don't have a college degree, good luck affording anything in life. You could do it, but you'll need luck, and unlike what many people like to believe, odds are, like most people, you aren't THAT lucky.

Even if you win the Lottery, you should get yourself an education. Quit the subway job, but keep going to school.
