Why did we lose today

"Warner's first interception of the season was only a foot or so from being a touchdown for the Cardinals. Receiver Steve Breaston had a step on cornerback Leigh Torrence, but the ball was slightly underthrown. It appeared to hit Torrence's helmet and bounced into the hands of teammate Carlos Rogers......"

- 2 turnovers that were converted into 10 points
- Stupid penalties on special teams keep putting us at awful field position
- Did defense board the plane to the East? I hope so otherwise we come back 2-2
- Horrible call to punt on 4th down at midfield with only 3 min left and defense playing crap

That midfield call with under 3 minutes to go to kick the ball was dumb before the call an dumber after the call. If we are going to go for it on 4th and 2 ft at midfield and throw a TD pass (called back) then we sure should have taken the gamble (it does not deserve to be called a gamble) and go for 4 yds. I put the chances at 50/50 that Warner makes that 4 yds. Coach you got to have more faith in the offense than that and you knew our defensed was playing poorly most of the day and were not likely going to get the ball back.

Its hard for me to put the blame on Kurt for this game, He isnt Keanu in the movie Replacments where he can just call whatever play he wants. Kurt was PISSED today. They took away his TD and that INT was total PI

What we do best is pass and that is how we won the last two games. We did not go long until the second half. We need to do what we do best and what we have the personal to do and that is pass. We have not averaged over 20 a game by running. Whiz badly wants to run the ball and I wish we could but we do not have the personnel to run it for victories.

Unfortunately, I was dead-on as far as the officiating is concerned. That doesn't exonerate the Cardinals, because they still had their chances. But in a tight game against a decent team on the road with 80,000+ boisterous fans, NO TEAM can sustain the BS calls we routinely get there. In addition to the delay of game nonsense & the obvious PI against Breaston, how is it possible that we had a penalty called on about 90% of our punt or kickoff returns. The truth is - IT'S NOT. Penalty calling is subjective & we took it in the shorts AGAIN. Some negative tidbits:

- Warner was average at best. Too long to get through his progressions & he had at least 3-4 passes batted down or deflected.
- Entire receiving core was rather listless. Boldin was whiney & emotionless.
- Defense is soft up the middle - we need Watson back NOW.
- Edge is savvy, but slow. He had holes that should have doubled his output. At least 2-3 of his runs would have been taken to the house by about 75% of the true RB's in this league. Hightower needs more touches as I believe he is a Marion Barber clone.
- I understand why Whiz punted, but it obviously backfired. Pendy will get a talking to after this pretty bad defensive showing. I'm not sure it was entirely our defense or that Zorn called a great game. I think it was a combination of both, but Zorn definitely outcoached Whiz yesterday.

Positives

- As average as we played, we still SHOULD have won this game. A pre Whiz team would have lost this game by at least 3 td's.
- OL opened up some nice holes. The Skins fans around me were surprised at how well we ran the ball.
- That place was as loud as I can ever remember it being. It was as loud as RFK & THAT WAS LOUD. With all the negatives & PISS POOR OFFICIATING, we hung in there to the end.
- We are a legitimate team that can play anyone, anywhere & still come away with a W. I don't know the Jets well enough yet, but I see a similar type game & we need to win that one.

It was great to see Stout & Bratwurst & have a few beers with them. For the record, CardsFanMd went home & puked on his neighbors front lawn (neighbor is a diehard Skins fan). THAT'S MY BOY!!!!!!!

The refs directly assisting in ensuring it stayed that way helped.

3rd down last offensive series. Linebacker chucks intended target Hightower in the chest knocking him to the ground with the ball in flight.

Disinterested referee looks on from a few yards away....

that's the call I mentioned before it's definitely a penalty because the ball
is in the air so the 5 yard rule doesn't apply and the ball wasn't tipped.

Everyone please use "outscored" from now on instead of the verb lose.

Poor CB play is the main reason we got outscored yesterday. We always seem to get outscored in Washington. We've only been outscored in one game this season so there is no cause for alarm.

Anemic Pass Rush (Campbell for the most part had plenty of time to throw. The few times we did get to him he got flustered easy.)

Stupid Penalties (Can we return a kick without holding? Why do we have guys wearing #'s in the 20s blocking on kick returns?)
